Unable to open SmartSave 1 yr Fix.

Tried to open an account with them with my mum. Just fails with no explanation. I suspect they are doing credit check on the address, but as she has had no credit, this comes up blank.

Didn't even get as far as a bank account based check, but suspect that would have failed too as they say it doesn't work for accounts opened before 1998.

We opened a Hodge Bank account and although that failed in the online process we were able to deal with them on email and send in proof of id and address documents as an alternative.

Not sure I'm that comfortable with the idea of a bank being open for business whilst beta testing its systems in any case.
