USB Audio Tape Player or low price alternative?

Walkmans do work with mains adaptors and are a fair bit cheaper. Prolly £20.
I wouldn't spend £60 to £70 just to convert 20 audio cassettes.0 -
Ah, I stand corrected.
Shows how long it's been since I last used a walkman

Looked into my cupboard, found one of these still packed in a box, unused: Panasonic RQ-V196
I've a couple of other relatively high quality Panasonic 'Walkmans(I still have a cassette collection). Haven't used them for a while.
Can't see myself lugging loads of cassettes around.
Still have a Network MiniDisc player in a box too.

Like Donnie, I cannot see myself spending more than £10-20 to convert 20 audio cassettes, but I find this £49 SONY CMTEH20DAB very tempting - cassette, CD, MP3-CD & DAB digital tuner. And I'm not going to convert any tapesIn a way, it would be good if the tape deck also came with radio and CD player, but I guess many of the all-in-ones pay less attention to the 'quality' details to keep the prices down. I'm probably not going to want to get rid of it after I've converted the 20 or so cassettes, might want to use it for radio or CDs.H.

Hence why a bargain from eBay may be just the ticket

Ok the Sony one at Comet doesn't have Line out according to the Sony site.
I'm having trouble finding any all-in-ones with line-out (was hoping to get one with a DAB radio as well as CD/Cassette) but they're all very 'big' in terms of size.
Do walkmans take AC power? I'd rather not run them on batteries and would they have a line-out?

DC via an adaptor. They'll have a headphone socket.
Were these cassettes recorded with Dolby Noise Reduction? If so, you might prefer to have a player with Dolby Noise Reduction.
I'll take mine out of the box to evaluate the sound quality. Wait a minute......:)
I did a test. Could have done with turning up the sound level on the Walkman.
Music file here
I used the Walkman I mentioned in post #14 in conjunction with Sound Recorder in Windows Vista.
I think when it comes to it, I'll use my Yamaha deck.
At least it got me to thinking about transferring my collection.0 -
These are professionally recorded tapes by chivers, simon and schuster, etc.

Did you listen to the music file? Was the quality acceptable to you?0

I'm still trying to get the site to load. So far no joy in either Internet Explorer or Firefox.Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0
