Amazon seller passing addesses to sellers on ebay, what would you do?

I ordered 2 boxes of vitamins from Amazon. One arrived 10 days later, I asked about the second and was told they'd posted it out the day before. I waited another week, it didn't show up so I requested a refund for it. The seller called me, said they had posted it a couple of days before and could I wait, but Amazon refunded me the day after anyway. The second box arrived this morning and has a clear 'prepaid and printed from ebay' sign at the bottom of the address sheet. The name and the address of the 'return to' isn't the Amazon seller at all, so it looks like they have bid on ebay and passed my address onto the seller. The vitamins are also almost out of date, and I'll have to pay to return them.

I'm pretty annoyed that my address has been given to someone without my consent or my knowledge, is there anything that I can do?

Is it possible that the Amazon seller didn't have a 2nd box in stock when you ordered and went to the eBay seller to source it and the delivery crossed over with your cancellation request?

I think you'd need to talk to the Amazon seller to find out what happened and also check the Ts & Cs on their page for returns.

I would imagine the business' are connected in some way and/or trading on both sites. A 'normal' ebay seller would have to post the item to the address of the winning bidder/buyer.

Are you returning them because they have a short date on them or because you haven't paid for them? Either way I would contact the seller you ordered them from with your questions.

Not really, the first box isn't from this seller either, I've looked at the items they sell on Amazon and I'm starting to think that this is their business model, order from ebay and sell on Amazon. Surely they would have said that they didn't have it in stock the first time I asked about the missing box?

Returns info is to contact Amazon. I'm more concerned about my details being given to someone without my knowledge.

    Thank you :)

Both boxes are from different places which don't appear connected to the seller. A 'normal' ebay seller would have to post the item to the address of the winning bidder/buyer. Friends have sent me gifts they have bought on ebay so items can be sent to other addresses.

    Will do, thank you :)

People have multiple businesses selling on multiple platforms.

Chinese sellers for instance sell from hundreds of different locations all over the world but they are all still connected.

It's very unlikely that any seller with give business to a rival when it's easier to just refund.

You have bought something from a dropshipper.

They don't stock products themselves, but find products on a marketplace site that they think they call sell for a higher price.

So when you buy a product from a dropshipper on Amazon Marketplace for e.g. £15.00 they (or their automated software) places an order for the product for e.g. £12.00 from the ebay seller, arranging for it to be sent direct to you.

CakeCrusader, I think stragglebod's explanation is the most likely one, especially with how a lot of seemingly smaller Amazon sellers are set up (and the same can apply to eBay, Gumtree and Facebook sellers too).

Amazon seller should be arranging the return and covering the cost of that return - unless you agreed to return rejected goods then you need to return but they still need to cover the cost.
