Left item for repair and shop has closed

I recently left my camera in for repair at a local camera shop. I have been chasing them for an update for weeks and now find that the company has closed. I have managed to find the owner/director of the business who said he will try to retrieve my camera from the shop however I am not convinced he really cares.
I have written to the company secretary requesting my property is returned to me within 7 days or i will take legal action through the small claims court to recover the replacement cost of another camera and my court fees.Sent in writing by recorded delivery.
Is there anything else i can do? I really just want my camera back.

Has the business gone into liquidation? If it has then the Receiver should be able to return your camera as it's not an asset belonging to the business.

What's the current status of the company? Unless it's still trading somewhere else then it would seem unlikely to have assets worth pursuing. Does the shop look like it might still have stock in it?

There is notice on door to day closed until further notice. Not trading at present but how do I know if company in liquidation?

There is no point in threatening to sue a company that is in liquidation unless it has any assets. Contact whoever is winding the company up and register your claim.
