Recommended supplier/tariff for flat in Edinburgh

Hi all

We've just bought a flat in Edinburgh and we're getting all the bills transferred over, and I'm not sure what supplier or sort of tariff to look at for our bills.

I've no idea what a typical usage is likely to be for a flat, which might steer our choice. We've gone from an all-gas kitchen to an all-electric, although the flat also has combi-boiler water and central heating. I'd assume heating usage would go down compared to a house, given heat from other flats, but not sure it quite works that way. Flat is a 3-bed, 2 reception 1840 build, top floor with insulated roof space but single glazing, if that makes any difference.

We were previously with Ovo energy when living with Bath and took on SSE for our short-term rental in Edinburgh, I'm inclined to go back with Ovo but I'd be interested in some of the renewables as long as the bills aren't wildly different.

Not sure who current flat is with, have mailed ex-owners but not yet heard back - my assumption is they'd have gone with a suitable provider.

Any advice appreciated - I'd usually just chuck details into a comparison site but I've not got any starting values to go from.

Cheers!

I think the only thing you can do is either use OFGEM averages, or on a comparison site like Citizens Advice: https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk, you can put in your address details, say you don't know your usage and select the option to base it on the property type, so flat with 3-4 bedrooms and go with that.

Just remember you will need to register with the current supplier(s) before you switch.

Many thanks, I'll give the citizen's advice website a try.
