Help me stay on straight and narrow in all forms of life!!

Options
Hi All.

I feel i need a diary as I am just hopeless these days at sorting my life out!

I am so very lucky and to be honest don't have a lot to complain about. 2 amazing children 8 and 4, an amazing partner who has put up with me for 16 years and counting and amazing supportive parents, a good, well paid job and a beautiful home with my own stables! :j

I am however still plagued by constant cc debt which I am lucky enough to be able to switch to 0% as have good credit, and am also plagued by being hopeless with money and chocolate.

I can not seem to get past the industrial estates that are popping up these days on the way home. We have one near me that I have to pass each day, it has B&M, Marks and Spencer, Next, Boots, Mountain Warehouse, Tesco's, Hobby Craft. If i nip to Tesco's i will pop over and have a look.

I also have a very unhealthy addiction to galaxy chocolate! Prior to having DS i had a lovely size 8-10 figure, maybe a bit too skinny, bounced straight back after having my firstborn DD.
When i was pregnant with DS i had gestational diabetes that was un-diagnosed at the end of pregnancy and piled on about 2/3 stone, that was nearly 5 years ago and due to the fact i don't have time to exercise as much as i would like and the fact i eat tonnes of chocolate I am uncomfortably overweight! So much so i have a massive stomach and a double chin which is getting right on my nerves :rotfl: I realise I sound totally shallow and the only answer is to stop eating rubbish its just getting my mindset right.

I gave up smoking fully 6 years ago and that seems a walk in the park in comparison. I know i need to stop eating rubbish, that will in turn save me money but i can't seem to do it.

Blimey, its al very self pitying and i am sorry for that as so many people have proper problems but i just currently need to get money sorted and weight sorted and then I will be good!

For instance, i popped into boots yesterday to get some eye cream to sort my puffy bags out, spent £75 on moisturiser's, make up, £6 on shampoo and another £6 on conditioner!! I have taken some of these things back but that i ridiculous!!! I would do the same if i popped to B&M for house cleaning stuff, all sorts would go in my basket! Anyway....

Congratulations :T to all who have got this far,

Sorry for the self indulgent post, anyone with any tips mostly on how to stop shopping and how to stop eating rubbish please let me have them.

I am now sat at my desk and have stripped my purse of all cards.
I have always worked it that i set aside my wages for all bills in my account each month, withdraw what i need for fuel and food each week in cash and then I am supposed to not spend anymore, but its so easy to pop in, hence why i have removed my cards.

Anyway, i am off now, feel better to have unloaded now, may just keep doing this. Sort of therapy i suppose.

Thanks all Vics x

maybe look at why you are 'nipping to Tesco'? A bit of meal planning - maybe online food delivery - means you are not leading yourself to temptation.
If I run out of something basic like milk I make sure that I walk to the nearest local shop - I get the exercise, I am limited in what I can carry, I like supporting local shops so it is a win-win-win.

I do some meal planning, we are currently trying to do Slimming world recipes. I 'Nip' into get some milk etc so you are right. I need to either go to a local shop or just make sure i have enough.

If i don't need to go in i can not be lead astray elsewhere.

    Thanks

    Hi and Welcome :D

    Another thing that may help curb unnecessary spending is to remember the Money Mantra;

SKINT – Ask yourself, Can I afford this, and do I NEED it?
NOT SKINT – Ask yourself, is it worth it, and will I use it?
If you answer NO to any of these – DON’T BUY!

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

    Hi

You say you have your own stables, do you have horses / ponies? if so for exercise do you d oyour own mucking out / can you walk with the horse on a lead rein / can you ride more often?

I know this is going to hard, but just ban chocolate out of your life. Have some fruit instead.

    Good luck
