    The risk is what happens if it doesn't go smoothly - say there's something you dislike about the car that needs sorted; I've found it's easier to get it fixed before paying, but reputable dealers may be better for that. Worst case, what happens if the dealer goes bust between payment and collection?

    My dealer said "our preferred payment method is by bank transfer" and they'd like it a couple of days before collecting ..... I just told them I'd be paying by debit card when I picked up the vehicle - they were fine with it, no argument at all.
