Selling Jewellery

Options
Hi,
I've got some second hand jewellery that I have tried to sell on Facebook marketplace for months but had absolutely no interest despite marking down price, renewing the listing etc.

Where would you advise the best places to go and sell jewellery are? I'm a novice to selling it and would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Nah not as of yet but this is what I thought I'd ask for - whether I'd be best going to ebay next or to try and sell at a jewellers. Just wanting to get people's experiences for best places to sell, thanks. :)
  • Retail mark up on jewellery is 4 x the item is worth so it maybe your pricing is wrong.

A lot of jewellery is only worth the scrap value of the metal. I would be inclined to take it to a few jewellers to see what they would offer. If the figure is acceptable take the cash and avoid the hassle!

What sort of jewellery? If you mean hallmarked gold and silver then perhaps try a jeweller if you are unfamiliar with eBay, although I'm surprised that 'good' jewellery doesn't sell on Facebook marketplace as it is a fast mover in my area. Be warned though hallmarked gold and silver is likely to be scrap value only unless it is something really special.

If you mean costume then you would probably need to sell in batches .

  • If you don't mind the risk of a dishonest buyer - eBay.
For a safe sale, no hassle, but low price - local jeweller.

Or you could try local Freeads, Gumtree etc specifying cash on collection only.
