When I worked in a supermarket I used to do 5 and 6 x 12 hour shifts in a row to cover holidays and absences, I regularly used to work 6am until 11pm often for the same reasons, but with a lot of breaks to help.
Wouldn't dare do it now though.0 -
I worked in a bakery where the Friday afternoon shift did 14.00 till finish. I was called in at 10.00 to cover a sick colleague and after several breakdowns and other mayhem I finished at 13.15 saturday afternoon.
With travelling that's about 28 hours.

I once did a day trip to a meeting in Stockholm. Left home at about 3am to get to the airport for an early flight. All day in meetings. Customer took us for dinner afterwards, back to the airport for the last flight to London, landed about 1am and finally got home at about 3am, just about 24 hours after leaving the previous morning.
That was when I was much younger. These days I would insist on flying the evening before.0 -
I was a junior doctor in late 90s. On my weekend on (1 in 4) I would start at 8.30am on Saturday and finish at 5pm on Monday!0
