what have they said? We can't read the contract you agreed with them from here?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

We got as far as waiting to exchange and had to pay £500, but it would depend on your contract0

It depends how much work they did and what their terms of business say. You know, we don't.0

i havent signed a contract with my solicitors, i just told them to instruct. Theyve given me a quote but i havent signed a contract.0
-
So you haven't instructed them?0

Very unclear. Have you or have you not instructed them?
If you have, it will depend on the terms of your contract with them.
It is common, but you can by no means assume this, for buyers to get a fixed fee for the conveyancing, whilst an hourly rate is also quoted for any non-standard work, or, as here, for where conveyancing is not completed in full.0 -
i did instruct them over the phone0

as in you verbally accepted their contract terms and told them to start work....?WelshGlyndwr wrote: »i did instruct them over the phone0 -

Probably nothing.0 -
You don't need to have "signed a contract" in order to have accepted their terms and be liable for whatever work you've asked them to do. So the question is still what have they actually done (doesn't sound like much, if anything), and what did they tell you they would charge for it. It would probably be easier if you just ask them!0
