Google and you tube accounts ...

Howdy!
Strange question . I have had a gmail account for many years now.
Being a you tube browser quite a lot actually , I have signed up to you tube to subscribe to certain channels and push the like button here and there . I don't make comments or anything like that .
I could be wrong , but I believe google own you tube now?

So here's the question which is about identity issues:

While signing up to various websites Total jobs asked me if I want to apply for positions via google . I mistakenly pressed ok .
Then all future emails have hello' nickname ' instead of hello ' another casualty' . I let it go for a while but decided to delete total jobs emails

I thought I had only one google account . The gmail address. I have the option to delete the you tube nickname account .
I also can't find the cv . I assume that's in the nickname account .

Can I delete the you tube nickname account and reopen it ?
Or am I over worrying about big brother having too much information about me?

Google have owned YouTube since 2006, its not a new development

You can have more than one Google account and they can be tied to various YouTube channels that you have created (whether they have content or if its just a list of favourite videos).

All "applying with Google" does is the same principle as applying with Facebook - you don't register with the site itself, you just use the same login details you've given to Google. Supposedly the theory is that if in your example TotalJobs had a major data breach they wouldn't have any of your login details as Google would have them and that makes Google responsible for dealing with the entire security side of things.

I have a Facebook account but haven't used Facebook for about 2 years. I feel like everything is being merged to find out way too much out of someone . TBH , if Totaljobs just said ' hello another casualty' then I wouldn't have been as concerned .

I would prefer 'Hello mug welcome to our all seeing all encompassing world" , but of course they would have assumed that you have read and accepted our terms and conditions:cool:

I use a different email and login for everything.

Although i have been on the net for a very long time it puzzles me when everyone posts so openly on public sites, and then uses the same details to connect to other sites that you may not want so public.

People are surprised when they get a call from a friend who needs money because they are abroad and lost theirs, it must be their friend because they know personal stuff. The stuff they plastered all over social media..

Or get a call from their bank and it must be the bank because they knew their date of birth and mothers maiden name.

Me i was born in a mythical city, where my female pet hamsters name is Mr Doggy. My DOB is over 120 years ago.

lets see someone guess all those details, none of which would be the true answer.

Bizarrely enough, my old email address is on Facebook . No problem yet although when/ if I cancel the Facebook account it could be a pita
I don't do twitter .

Good point about having more than one email address . I should really do that . Probably yahoo who knows?

1 option, delete the youtube account and open up another 1 and add all the channels you subscribe too.

Option 2 is to open up another gmail/yahoo account just for job emails.

I'll probably do both . One thing that I'm confused about: I cannot see my cv on google . I cannot rememberactually uploading it on there. Not like me to upload anything on google ..

You don't upload anything to Google when you sign in.
What's probably happened is you have two accounts now with Totaljobs, one where you sign with your Gmail account (sign in with Google) and another where you don't (this may also be the same Gmail account). That's all "signing in with Google" means, it doesn't mean you have anything else to do with them besides signing in.

Your CV is probably on the other account that you're not signed into now.

Yahoo appear to be getting pushy for phone numbers.

Received several emails from yahoo saying i have not logged in for over a year, thats a lie because i received emails the day before. But when i try to login directly on the site it just says enter a phone number.
