Parking permit slipped and now being fined - do I pay?

Hi all,

tldr - my parking permit slid slightly out of view and now I've been fined. Do I have to pay it?

I've checked the forum / newbie thread but don't see anything focused on this particular issue where the parking permit was only half displayed.

BACKSTORY
I have an allocated parking spot outside of my residence in a gated residents car park. Other tenants would regularly park in other's spots causing the landlord to hire a private parking company.

MY ISSUE
I received a resident parking permit which I put on my windscreen. I was not provided with any adhesive and thus the permit moved slightly out of view. I received a ticket during the first week (at 2.30am) because only 50% of the ticket was showing.

I appealed which has been rejected. They've said the fact I'm a permit holder isn't in dispute, however it's my responsibility to display my permit.

I appreciate the permit wasn't displayed fully but I'm a resident and this is my spot - I don't see why I should pay £100/160?

I've spoken to them on the phone and was advised to go to IAS which - having read this forum - I realise is a dead end so I will not.

SOLUTION
What should I do? £160 is a lot of money to me so should I pay the £100 and put this to bed?

Or should I ignore them and the inevitable debt collectors and solicitors until they go away?

If taken to court do I have a case?

Apologies if this question has been asked before...

    The NEWBIES thread says:
Q - ''I have read the NEWBIES thread but cannot find anything specific to my case...my case is different''.

A - NO IT ISN'T. YOU DO NOT NEED SPECIFICS. FORGET THE DETAIL, MOST CASES ARE ALL THE SAME.
Or should I ignore them and the inevitable debt collectors and solicitors until they go away?
Ignore debt letters completely. Do not ignore a court claim, and do update them if you move within 6 years, just in case.
If taken to court do I have a case?
Of course. YOU have primacy of contract, and there can be no 'legitimate interest' in penalising a resident.

We win 99% of defended claims, here, and have done for over 2 years now.

Search the forum for 'residential' and sit back and read all the exact same threads.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
