Hi

I have a Mercedes CLA 180 bought it new (Registration Date 04/15)

For the first 3 years services where included as was Mercedes Roadside Assistance.

It is due a Service B and an MOT and the quote from Mercedes for this is just under £700. I haven't had any other quotes yet.

Are there any benefits (other than I would continue to get Roadside Assistance for another year) to going with a Mercedes Dealer and paying this huge price?

I mean I could but roadside assistance from the AA, is Mercedes Assistance any better do you know?

Thanks

As this is the 4 year B service, it will include air and fuel filter change plus brake fluid change over and above the standard annual oil and filter change, these are considered chargeable extras over the "ordinary" B service cost by MB.

Have a look here to see what your car needs :

Mobilo (MB roadside assistance) gets good write-ups on MB forums.

There are MB independant specialists all over the country who would service the car using OEM parts but be somewhat cheaper than main dealer. However, not all have the genuine MB Star diagnostic equipment or can update the MB online service record.

Sounds like you need to join a few MB forums - don't know if there's one specific to the CLA, but you'll find https://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/index.php and https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/ good - and neither is the official MB club forum!
  • I went to a Mercedes approved garage instead and got it for 580. Nearly choked on my cornflakes when they told me the price. I now drive an Astra! Got fed up of stupid costs. :rotfl:

If it still operates in the same way go on the mymercedes website and get quotes from dealers all around the Country, they do differ.

When I had a B class I was quoted almost £500 for a B service at my local dealer, I found other quotes and they price matched at about £350, highest quote was over £600.

Thank you. I will have a look at the forums and also see if I can get some other dealer quotes see if they are competitive, I assumed they would have a standard fixed charge across the board.

You'll do better loking for a decent indie! 15 months ago a B5 service for my C220 would have been over £500 at my local MB main dealer, luckily we have a decent indie close by who did the necessary for just under £300.
