If memory serves me correctly, there are a couple of card providers who will give an estimated limit during an pre-eligibility checks. This came up on another thread. From memory, I think Lloyds and Nationwide do this...but cannot be certain as it is all a bit fuzzy... :)

I would try either Halifax, BoS and Lloyds. Their eligibility checker gives you an indication of what your credit limit will be. I recently applied for a Lloyds BT card and they came back with a limit of £10k, Same with Halifax. At least then you will get an idea if you will get the limit on one card or if you will need several .

All these cards likely to offer more than ~£3000 initially?
As per your answers when the thread started, for a card like this you are likely to get a limit higher than £3000 or a decline. You are not likely to get an acceptance with a low limit.

My wife applied for Virgin card (0% on purchases 26 months) back in Nov 18 and was given limit of £8800 from the off if that's any help

Similar circumstances, decent credit file etc.
Income is a huge factor when it comes to credit limits. The OP hasn't mentioned his wife's income.
In fact, I'm not sure he's mentioned much of their circumstances at all...

Very true, my wife's income is net £44k so I'm assuming that's the reason she got a fairly decent limit.

She's home, she applied for Lloyds and got instantly accepted. It asked what credit limit we wanted and we chose £5k and it gave us £6k Plenty for the holiday.

    Thanks all.
