Am I On A Good Tariff ?
Can't help but think i'm paying a lot for my electric.
Live in an electric only, two bedroom apartment. Living on my own.
Unemployed so in most of the day
My bill varies between £90 and £115 per month
Standing charge:
21.48p/day
Day unit rate:
19.1572p/kWh
Night unit rate:
9.449p/kWh
I have one small heater, on timer. And I use Economy 7 switch every other night to heat my water for a shower.
I was recommended to use " Look After My Bills.com "
Are they any good ?
Thanks

Start with knowing what your actual consumption is ! When did you last read your meter ?
Look back over your bills and find one about 12 months ago where the readings have the letter A for Actual against them. Read your meters now and do some simple sums.
LAMB can be of use but unless it has good info its a case of garbage in garbage out.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

I've only been here sine January, and I take meter readings every two weeks. Just took one now.
13 days into last month my day usage was : 107
15 days into this month my day usage is: 141
13 days into last month my night usage was : 173
15 days into this month my night usage is : 106
Guessing i'll be saving this month as my night usage has come right down0 -
Just checking - the 173 etc is the period of 28 days say Feb 13 to March 13
On what basis is the bills of £90- £115 your quote - are these your suppliers using estimated readings or ones you give them ?
Over a year your day usage won't change a lot - a bit less in summer. So about 3000 units.
As you say night will start to fall but remember it includes waterNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Period of about half way through the month, so about 14 days on average.
8th feb to 21st feb ( Last months )
26th feb to 13th march ( this months)
They are my accurate readings, as soon as they tell me to take them I do.0 -

I'm on
Standing charge 20.445p per day
Unit rate 16.716p per kWh
Economy 7 rate 9.051p per kWh
so I suspect you could do better if you put your details into mse energy club - let us know what comes up.0 -
On that basis - day units about 9 a day = 3000 a year @ 19p is £570; night 15 a day during winter but 5 in summer = £300; standing charge £80 . Total £950 plus VAT = £1050
So yes £90 a month on average over the year.
Who is your supplier and what tariff ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
