15 inch with 256GB SSD vs 13 inch with 512GB SSD

I am purchasing a laptop for work and they have said I can have the choice of a:
15 inch with 256GB SSD
13 inch with 512GB SSD
It comes with Windows 10 Pro (Creators Update 64-bit) and they will install Windows Office
Would the 256GB SSD be enough storage for Windows and Office and approx how much would be left over for my files?
They wouldn't stretch to the 15 inch 512GB SSD version unfortunately (which makes me think they are ok with the 256GB)
Thanks

256gb should be fine for a work machine. That tends to be the standard for business machines.
The choice boils down to what size screen you want really.0 -
15 is too heavy to carry around...0

Business machines, whether laptop or desktop, should be storing user files on a server, not on your C or D drive... if the laptop is lost/stolen you will lose all your work.
My desktop only has a 128 GB SSD and my laptop 256, neither are short of storage.0 -
If they pay for office, you should have access to OneDrive, which is cloud based storage.
Its pretty clever and can sync things to the cloud or locally, so a 256gb drive maybe better.
If you travel a lot, such as trains. Go for the smaller screen, you can use tables without an issue. When you get home or the office, a cheap monitor can then increase screen size0 -
Business machines should be storing files on both a server and encrypted laptop drive, with automated syncing, so your files are available when you're offline.Frozen_up_north wrote: »Business machines, whether laptop or desktop, should be storing user files on a server, not on your C or D drive... if the laptop is lost/stolen you will lose all your work.

Only the OP can answer their own question, as we don't know what they'll be using the laptop for. If they need to use big spreadsheets on the move, 13" may not be big enough. If not, and they do a lot of travelling, 15" may be too big.
I personally would go for the <not telling you> option. And the reason why I'm not telling you is that what would be best for me is irrelevant to the OP.0 -
I travel, but maybe 4-5 days a month at most
I would like to go for the 15 inch as I often split screen and the "screen estate" works well for me
My concern was the 256GB drive. But I will store photos elsewhere and dont plan to add games. Just word and excel files and some music, but this does come to 25GB itself, without Win 10 or Office0 -
Win 10 and office come to less than 100GB..
In fact my business laptop shows 72GB used with Win 10, Office 365 and a few other apps.0
