Old style Daily Wednesday 13th March 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I keep getting woken up by the wind and things blowing around outside. I hardly saw anyone walk past the house yesterday. I think most people were staying in unless it was absolutely necessary to go out.

A friend had to go to the surgery yesterday, so she called into the supermarket on her way back and got the few fresh bits we both needed. She bought a couple of lovely Danish pastries as well and we enjoyed them with a coffee before she headed home.

The forecast is for more of the same today so I think I will crack on with some of the housework. In the end all I got done yesterday was the bathroom. I’ll try and get the kitchen done today. Other than that, I don’t have any firm plans.

Camelot I hope that you are less stiff today.
Gers it sounds like sensible change of plans yesterday with the weather forecast. Hopefully your mum has turned a corner now and will continue to improve.
TA I hope that you had a great day yesterday.
Nelski hopefully the journey home wasn’t too bad.
Rosyred the James Martin recipe you made for dinner yesterday sounds really nice. I hope it went down ok with the menfolk.

Have a good a day everyone.

Morning Hollyharvey and all who will be here later.

I have woken up, desperate for the loo and DS is in there having a shower.

There has been an interruption to this post as he emerged and I have been able to use tge loo. He has left me a huge pile of towels to wash. It is pouring with rain and yesterday's washing isn't dry so they won't get washed yet as the rack is full and I'll need to clear that. I am a crabby old bat sometimes.

No plans today other than messing about though the kitchen is in need of yet another clean. I'm not doing that in the small hours, it can wait until it gets light.

Thinking of those of us who are struggling for whatever reason. I hope that people have a good day or if not actually good, tolerable.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning Holly,AOD and all to come

Wind woke me up to its vicious out there. Had a change of plan this week which I may well end up regretting. Today was meant to be mum day but yesterday one of my trainer colleagues called in sick at 4.30pm so too late for the company to rearrange all the people they have turning up so soft a**e here agreed to do it. Cue an uncomfortable call to mum to change to Thursday ....she made me giggle when when she said "well you had better appreciate this" :rotfl: no mum I think you had better appreciate I bother at all.

Anyway here we are with ridiculous winds outside and me facing a trip to Macclesfield which involves the thelwall viaduct a notorious bridge for closure when its even slightly breezy. Oh well it is what it is I suppose I will do what I can to that there.

Take care all and if you get the option to go out and face the elements ....be sensible say no

Yesterday went well though the journey was hellish ....please bring on normal weather again the stress of travel at the moment is sky high.

Car gastronomy...cheese and pickle with a scone. Tonight no idea will decide when I land home which hopefully I will :)

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one and those that are poorly or looking after poorly people x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light, very blustery but dry underfoot.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and just finished brekkie.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions with HM egg, mushroom and veg rice - not what I'd planned as although I'd got the chicken out to defrost when I went to use it, it was still frozen in the middle so had to have a quick re-think. Tonight we will be having chicken in creamy sauce with mash, veg and any LO's from Sundays' roast.

Yesterday work was steady but not as busy as Monday - we'll see what today brings. Last full day of my working week - as from tomorrow I'll be on days' off until Monday.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Another one here laid listening to the horrendous gale blowing out there. Being so high up we are really exposed to the elements and the damage that can be caused by strong winds frightens me.

The forecast is for it to ease as the day goes on. I hope so as I have a day out with my friend planned. Yet more eating to be done! It's the usual Skipton bus ride, weather dependant of course.

I had a lovely day yesterday to celebrate my advancing years. The afternoon tea (and bottle of Prosecco) were yummy, DD and I both agreed. The views all over Leeds from the Sky Lounge gave us a totally different view of the city. After that we decamped to the newly opened Slug and Lettuce for cocktails. And very nice they were too! Then time for the train back to meet the family in the Italian restaurant in town. A lovely meal as always. Managed a starter and main but too stuffed to tackle a dessert sadly. All in all a very enjoyable day with some lovely gifts too.

Have a nice day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. And of course our absent friends. Take care all xx

    Morning All

I think the storm is moving away, it's not as windy this morning but still raining.

Good move Gers, bet the roads were horrid.
Sounds like you had a great birthday TA.

Nothing much planned today apart from work, I've started to tidy the resources cupboard, it'll take a while!

My car had a service yesterday and passed its MOT so all good there.

Hope Wednesday is good to you. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

What lovely news about birthday treats and Danish pastries, my mouth is watering already.

The wind is really blustery here too. Yesterday I seemed to have timed my long trip just right as the storm appeared about an hour after I arrived back here.

The friend who was visiting DM phoned me to say that they couldn't find the phone charger cable and her mobile was flat. I headed out in rush hour traffic with a replacement cable only to find the original plugged into the TV set! Don't think I'd have looked there either. The 'worst' part of the journey is going through the Clyde tunnel but the traffic wasn't too bad each way.

Today I'm having a little rest before going back to the hospital.

Nelski - I hope your travel is smooth!

    Happy Wednesday to everyone.

Good morning, and thanks Holly for starting us off.

It's sunny and windy here - yesterday faired up after a wet start, and stayed dry all day, with brilliant sunshine, but windy, until about 6pm when the rain started, and the wind got up even more. it was quite frightening at times, with stuff banging around outside.

We still went to the quiz though, had a good night.

I saw the nurse at the doctors yesterday, and, as i thought, need my ears syringing, so that's to look forward to next Wednesday.

Glad Mum has had no more setbacks Gers, hope it continues.

TA, sounds as if you had a fabulous day yesterday, have a nice day today as well

AOD, your Ds seems to use a lot of towels, you've mentioned it before!!

Nelski, hope travel isn't as bad as you fear it will be

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, don't get blown away.

    Take care folks
