What rights does a buyer have?

Can anyone help....I have sold my private vehicle in a sale, it has worked fine for the last 3 years with no issues. 2 days after the sale (buyer test drove and all ok and was as described) its apparently going wrong. The money from the sale has been used to pay off debts so can't offer any financial help as I don't have any spare cash. The buyer is claiming because my OH has his own business (purely some trader eith me as s p/t employee) they are entitled to dealer rights for the vehicle to be fixed. In the last year we have sold 2 vehicles due to circumstances so not like were a dealer. Are they in the right or do I stand my ground as I did not intentionally sell a vehicle with a problem.
thanks
thanks

As a private sale they have no claim but if they take it to county court they'd have to prove it was a business sale and you'd have to prove it was a private sale of your own personal vehice (do you have receipts for its purchase?). Your partner having a garage muddying the waters somewhat as to whether you'd be guaranteed a win however if the garage doesn't sell cars and there's no other cars you or your partner have sold recently you would be OK. Your employment status there is irrelevant. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I think I do actually have the reciept somewhere however the log book was in my name, I had the insurance on a seperate policy to the traders policy and we do not sell vehicles, I sold my motorbike last year and my partner sold a clio a about a month ago so not like we have been buying and selling cars!0

Private insurance on the car and it taxed in your name.
And you've owned it 3 years.
They havent any case.
I would point out its been your own car for three years as per the V5C. Break all contact but if they persist, tell them to put their issue to you in writing via their solicitor and you will pass it on to yours and leave it at that.0
