Can you pay over the counter at Satander with just sort code and account number or have they become like Barclays where you need car or printed paying in slip?

According to https://www.which.co.uk/news/2018/05/has-your-bank-banned-other-people-from-paying-cash-into-your-account/:A Santander spokesperson told Which? Money: ‘From 2 April 2018, to address a risk of money laundering, we stopped receiving cash deposits into personal banking and savings accounts unless the person making the cash deposit is named on the account.’0

Even with a cheque they want you to put your card in a reader and enter your PIN - so I don't think they'll accept just a sort code and account number.0

Santander will ask you to put your card into their machine and enter your PIN.
You will also usually get badgered to use the self service instead, which tends to be a waste of time for me as I tend to end up with all the notes the machine doesn't like.0
