Smart Switches

Hi

Has anyone installed a Sonoff switch like this:

Any pros and cons? I know the is a need for a neutral wire for this setup.

Thanks

I have them in almost every light switch in my house. I've never had any issues with the operations of them and they always work every time.

The only potential issue you may have is that only connect to 2.4 Ghz Wi-FI so if you try connecting them with a device that is connected to the router on a 5 Ghz channel they are a bit finicky and won't play ball. There are two ways to avoid this issue; you can either set them up using an older device that only supports 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi (i use an old iPad) or you can split the Wi-Fi channels on your router.

But once they are setup i've never had any issues and always reconnect quickly after a power cut or any other issues.

An item of mains-powered, permanently-on electrical equipment, made by some random Chinese manufacturer, embedded in a wall cavity. Sounds totally safe.

There is a combo camp torch with USB connections and main recharge lead for the ni-cad batteries shown being dismantled and checked out on you tube - made obviously in China
All is fine and it seems to work as intended until you plug in the mains recharge lead and at the same time plug in something to the USB port - whereupon you find the USB port actually has live 240Volts on it!
    An electrifying experience all round.
  • I checked the switches I wanted to install them on, I have no neutral wire so will not be an option for me.

    Thanks for responses.
