Travelodge Saver Room - reserved but not paid for in advance

Hi,
I was hoping someone might be able to advise me about this from experience - I've booked a couple of nights at a Travelodge at their saver room rate. I realise this room rate doesn't allow me to receive a refund if I cancel the reservation, but when I made the booking, my credit card wasn't actually charged (although I had to provide the details). Assuming I was to cancel the room, would Travelodge still be able to put through a charge on my card even if I'm not there to authorise it?
Thanks

They don't need you there to authorise it and yes, you will be charged.0

Cancel it then report card stolen/lost and get a replacement
You receive a new card they won't be able to charge againstHi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I'm very surprised that they've not taken the money - in my experience even if you book at the normal (non-saver) rate, they still take the money straight away and then refund if you decide to cancel. It should certainly be taken straight away for the saver rate rooms.
Assuming that more than a few days have passed since you made the booking (to allow for the fact that credit card payments sometimes can delay getting processed for various reasons), then if you still want the rooms I'd be tempted to get in touch with them to confirm that your booking went fully through.0 -

Reporting a card stolen when it isn't to save on a non-refundable room is bound to end well. If lucky you might get a room for a period paid for by her majesty.0
