Rejected PPI Halifax

I had PPI for a Halifax mortgage between 2001 and 2003.
I believe I was mid-sold this, as it wasnt explained to me st the time, plus I was already covered by my employee benefits at ABN Amro Bank NV, where I know that I had life assurance, critical illness cover, personal accident cover and unemployment cover,
Unfortunately I no longer have the paperwork to prove this, and ABN Amro was bought out by RBS.
I’ve tried calling RBS HR Team, even though it’s a long shot, but I no longer have my employee number as I left over 8 years ago and can’t remember it.
If I could get through to someone I could provide other info to validate my ID such as National Inurance Number.
Today I received a letter from Halifax rejecting my claim as I cannot evidence my employee benefits.
Neither am I eligible for the Plevin award due to the timing,
Where do I go from here?
Is it worth complaining to the Financial Ombudsman?
Or is it pointless without evidence of the benefits I had at the time?
Thank you!!

To be brutally honest your benefits would have little impact given that the PPI was in place to cover your mortgage and would pay out both in addition and in excess of your benefits.
Very few MPPI complaints are upheld given that this was and still is considered valuable cover to protect your biggest financial commitment.
Unless there was some element of the cover that you were not eligible for them it is highly unlikely that FOS would overturn I’m afraid.0 -
I’m just wondering if I may have some luck with the Plevin piece?
I took it out at the right time but didn’t still have it in 2008.
Would the ombudsman consider that?0 -

If you didnt have it in 2008 then Plevin does not apply.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
