Repair (out of) Warranty

Hi,
I've had a Ford Mondeo fuel pump replaced at a Ford dealer, sadly ~13 months ago, several hundred GBP, with a (presumably standard) 12 month warranty. Just been diagnosed requiring another fuel pump by a local garage who suggested I contact the dealer to see if there was any comeback under the warranty even though I am strictly speaking past 12 months. These are the only (two) fuel pumps I ever had go wrong in a lifetime of keeping cars for quite a long time. Just wondering if anyone had similar experiences, if there is anything that can be done to get a replacement or a deal on a replacement with the dealer, or, well, anything less than another large bill.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.

    Electric pump (petrol)?

    Electric pump (diesel)?
    High pressure pump (diesel)?

    Which pump/engine/year?

  • Primarily I was after advice on any possible redress with the dealer, so didn't think the other details mattered so much, but its a Mondeo 2.0 sport petrol, year 2010/11, I have no further details on type of pump I'm afraid.

The redress would depend on the car and the actual item which is why i asked.

In tank electrical pump, £120 for a New Bosch pump.

Are you 100% sure the actual pump has failed rather than a blocked filter or dodgy electrical connector?

    What tests have they done?

What tests have they done to say the fuel pump needs replacing, if the garage is confident that the fuel pump is the problem, when its been taken out it should be simple to test it.
Return it as faulty, max £10, I would not bother.
