Stocking up for Brexit

What one actually needs very much depends on personal circumstances. I have a number of dietary requirements (gluten free for one) and so need to be sure I have enough of my 'weird flours' and other things so I can continue making gluten free food. (I don't buy the ready made GF food as it has so many additives, I'd rather make my own so I know what's in there). Also as I'm mainly house-bound, if for any reason there are food shortages I'd rather have some tins and other supplies squirreled away, which is handy whether it's for Brexit prep or ill health, bad weather, etc.

Nothing.... I've gone without before and I could go without now... and I doubt I'll notice (except a short blip of a few empty shelves due to a few people panicking).

What do you actually need ..... very little in reality.

Hi Pastures. Are you saying you have experience of going without food for weeks?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

There's "always something" in my cupboards that's edible. I have food to eat, it just wouldn't be very pleasant - but I'd not starve.

I've far too much pasta, 2 Kg rice, tins galore. Stuffing packets.. jelly, Angel delight.... all sorts ... instant custard.

I don't eat/need much food to be honest.

Today I've had a few biscuits, 2 potatoes, half a tin of beans and a bit of cheese. It's not like I need 3 meals a day, 2-3 snacks ... and specific branded goods and oodles of ingredients.

If all I had was a bag of pasta .... I'd be grateful I had food.

    Easily pleased really.

I ate a lot of pasta with tomato and onion sauce [ no cheese] years ago because I had very little money cming in. This was when tomatoes were about 20p a tin.

  • I don't expect people actually think we're going to starve if Brexit ever happens, I think having heard conversations on the bus, in the shops at the checkout and in the streets when I'm out and about that people are expecting there to be difficulties in supply rather than the food supply drying up altogether. What seems to be consensus of opinion is that putting in a supply of the things you'd not like to be without, favourite brands/favourite foods is better than waiting until shortages actually occur and being without them altogether. I'm not aware of anyone actually stocking up for doomsday!
