direct debit from 2 people
My son wants to have a bill in his name så pays the electricity while I pay for the gas. British Gas has accepted this after lots of correspondence and having been with B G for many years. Any suggestions how to switch supplier to get a better deal and keep 2 names and 2 direct debits?

Are you currently on a dual fuel tariff and/or looking to switch to one?
If not, you should be able to switch individually without any issue.
Dual fuel will likely be more complicated, and require you to speak with the new supplier.
Is it important to keep 2 names, or just the 2 direct debits?0 -
Yes - use different suppliers for Gas and Electric.
Taking dual fuel from one supplier is generally considered not to be the best way of doing things.
As you've been with BG for years are you still on their Standard Variable tariff (ie expensive)
Look at swopping.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
As has been suggested I need to look into using different suppliers for gas and electricity. Have been assuming that dual fuel would save a bit of money but I have probably been throwing money away.0
