Car after a rear end collision

Hi

I have a query about something of anyone can help? (sorry it's a long one) Last year a car hit the back of my vehicle, I reported it to the insurer and mentioned a few points I noticed since the collision, mainly a grinding sound at the rear of the vehicle, I also mentioned this to the garage when they took the car.

There is still a grinding sound even after being fixed. I had an MOT and service days fater the repair and that garage said they could hear the sound but couldn't find what would be causing it without taking the wheels apart for a deeper inspection...which would have cost me a lot. But it still passed its MOT and nothing came up in the service as being an issue

I carried on as normal but have recently had my tyres changed and the wheels aligned (after recommendation), and the garage here said that my rear wheels camber was off by a lot, which is only likely to the result of the car being involved in a collision. They have realigned the wheels but said it was bent quite a bit.

I have now contacted the garage who originally did the repairs to ask why this wasn't spotted especially after I mentioned the grinding sound to them and they told me they were instructed by the insurance company not to look at the wheels/suspension area as I was hit in the back and that won't affect the wheels of the vehicle. I spoke to my insurance and asked them why they told the garage to not look at this area and I was told that as it was hit in the back and near the wheels it won't have anything to do with the accident if the wheels are making a grinding sound and it is probably down to wear and tear so they won't do anything to fix this. I mentioned that the garage that aligned my wheels stated that the car had been in an accident due to how far the camber was out so if they can make that assumption after looking at it then clearly the collision could have affected the wheels but they said nope it won't have done and as no damage was shown near the wheel it won't have been from that so they can not proceed with fixing that

What are my rights here? Surely after an accident, a vehicle should be inspected fully to see if anything is damaged further rather than assume the whole car is fine because it was the bumper and boot that was damaged (visually) and the wheels or any other part of the vehicle doesn't need checking?

Its been around 5 months now and not sure if I can do anything? My insurance is fobbing me off saying they know my wheels/camber/suspension won't be affected from a collision to the rear of my car. Can I take this further or am I unlikely to get anywhere with it?

Sorry again for the long post but I'm frustrated that everyone is saying no and I don't know what else to do (other than pay god know how much to get it fixed when I feel this should have been spotted and fixed after the accident)

Maybe I am wrong so any help, advice would be useful, please.

TIA

Get an independent engineers report which will cost you a couple of hundred quid, go back to the insurance company and say it wasn't repaired properly.

You're unlikely to get anywhere until you know what the problem is. The insurance company may well think it's just some existing problem, such as a worn bearing, and so nothing to do with them.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
