Sorry you have had a spanner thrown in the works by having to repay the family loan sooner than expected but unfortunately that is the downside of borrowing from family. You cannot separate the financial side from the emotional side. Many people ignore family loans thinking they can be repaid whenever but I think I would find it worse with them either "holding it over you" or feeling pressure to pay back asap if they have their own financial woes. In these days of low interest borrowing there is really no need if you have a decent credit record and if you don't then it may be worth asking if borrowing more whether from family or a bank will make things worse or better. Not directed at you SavvyScot btw.
My twopence on amusing little ones is I spent almost an hour and a half with my three year old granddaughter on Monday making playdough cup cakes and then washing up (even though we have a dishwasher) she finds it fun to stand at the sink with my rubber gloves and lots of washing up liquidI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!
Payday has come!! Of course it is the latest it has EVER been  when we've needed it more than ever!
Credit card is sitting at around £6k  So i've just made a huge payment. We need to update breakdown cover and car insurance in the next week that needs to be sorted.
We have cancelled the credit card until we get control of the balance again. We use it for the points but we're just not comfortable using it until i get control again!
Hubby and I have £50 budgets for pocket money. And have one night out each. We have been BETTER (not good) at using up food in the house. It's like a muscle, the more you flex the better you getBut we are definitely much much better at using up what we have. Had a DELICIOUS
tomato sauce, sun-dried tomato and black olive pasta tonight with garlic bread. Using all stuff from fridge and freezer and stores. :A
We have cancelled our sky tv and are getting now TV so down from £60 to £30. :money:
We are going to cancel our amazon prime - saving £7.99 a month. :money:
Eldest needed some new trousers today so I used an old M&S credit receipt that was due to expire in 4 days time for £30! Got a pair of jeans and 3 pairs of trousers and a super cute/cool hoodie for £1.95.
Youngest needed new shoes that we purchased from clarks. I'm a fan of quality not quantity so I buy a few really good wee pairs of shoes for them and that's it! Eldest needs some new wee sketcher trainers, but that can wait a month.
We need to set a food budget, however I am happy with the progress so that, that can wait:beer:
That's it! I'm off to bed and will do a better post tomorrow0 -

We did this after i read this! Got my silicone cupcake holders out and made playdoh cupcakes :T
Agree with the family loan - however we were in need. I was led to believe we would have much more time (years) to pay it back however they've decided they want to pay off their mortgage (which makes complete sense - they should've done that in the first place). We planned to pay it back much earlier anyway and a more formal loan might be a better option for everyone.
One fire at a time though . We will focus on the cc and immediate expenses and tackle that in next 3-4 months and then throw everything we have at the loan, hopefully it won't be asked about again in next 4 months until we can get back on our feet.0 -
There's a great breakdown cover article on the main site. Autoaid for £60 is the same as the top AA & RAC type package.
Well done on cancelling other things.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0
