I like the idea of negative comments on TripAdviser etc. I got a ticket paid off by Mothercare a few years ago as I got the press involved. The tagline MotherDoesn'tCare worked really well.
I did not use the Travelodge at the car park where my car was ticketed. It is a car park that is open to the public. I did notice though that there were a large number of complaints about the car park on TripAdvisor from visitors to the Travelodge. The parking charge ruined some visitor's weekends. These were people who were possibly visiting Alton Towers or the Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas.
The way that Excel have set up the permit arrangement makes it difficult to comply as the permit runs out at 8.00 am so they have to nip out and put a ticket on their car. No lie in then or leisurely breakfast.

Or just simply park within the rules and none of this monthly writing in, wasting my time.

- When you visit a car park twice in one day, but the ANPR cameras conveniently forget your first exit and second entrance, and assume you've been there all day
- When the PPC operatives fraudulently cook the evidence
- When they PPC operative photographs your dashboard from a sneaky angle such that your displayed permit is not visible
- When you enter letter O instead of number 0 (typographically identical on a number plate), pay up, but still get a ticket
- When you are parked 1 inch on the white line, causing no inconvenience to anyone
- When the signage is hidden, invisible in the dark, or mounted so high you can't actually read it
- When the machines don't work properly, happily take your money, but issue a duff ticket
- When you circle a full car park for 20 minutes in the hope of finding a space, give up and leave, yet still get a ticket
- When you stop for 30 seconds to check the parking conditions, decide against and leave, yet someone has photographed your car and you get a ticket in the post
Speeding is an absolute offence. Parking charges are much muddier. Like I said, you are being a tad naïve.
To add to the above:
when someone has parked in a disabled bay without a blue badge because:- Theres snow on the ground and the markings can not be seen ( also applies to parking outside of a bay/markings)
- The car park markings are worn/cant be seen, and the sign highlighting it as a disabled bay is hidden amongst the undergrowth, despite highlighting this the the "appeals" assessor, they turned the appeal down as the appellant should have taken more care to find the signage and as such should carry a machete to clear undergroth
- An ocupant of the vehicle has a disability that requires the use of a disabled bay ( qualifies under the Equality act) however for whatever reason does not poses a blue badge
- An occupant of the vehicle has a protected characteristic under the equality act, that means they require extra time, however the ANPR system makes no reasonable adjustment for them
- Hidden in some small text/out of the way is a clause stating that vans ( even small vans) have to pay a hefty extra premium, as do 4 wheel drive vehicles, Red cars must pa extra and so on.
As for Beavis, most PPCs try and use this, even where it clearly does not apply, any PPc claiming this should be held for misleading practices, and any company employing a PPC that spouts Beavis should also be in the same boat.
As fort the Beavis case in general, its a shame more was not made out of the issue ( from my understanding) that the reason for the overstay by Mr Beavis was the wait for a broken printer in Staples to be repaired in order to complete an order.
I also believe there may have been some discrepancy over the claimed signage in that specific car park

Saw this posted on the main board so was curious.

What do you do when the driver didn't park and I still received a ticket as the keeper?
In my case my car was used to drop someone off at the Hotel near the airport, dropoff zone full so they drove around twice, then the drop off zone was clear so they dropped the passengers off at the hotel and I received a parking charge. Photo's clearly show my car dropping the person off in the dropoff zone with the sign right next to the car stating drop off zone. No parking took place.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
