Just back for a quick catch up. TA if thus were me, I'd be inclined to send flowers and not attend and I think people will understand.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning. Could go back to bed today I won’t but I am not feeling it today I will go to the gym this afternoon. I am working lunchtime and after school. TA. It is too soon I went to one not long after my dad died and cried all the way though it was someone I worked with who I did get on well with I did get a few looks OL have a good day with Diva
  • Thank you wise ones for your input. I now realise I have not been thinking rationally about the funeral. I have been telling myself I HAD to go as other neighbours are going and now I am telling myself I don't HAVE to go at all. Feel much better now I have made the decision. A plant or flowers for his widow in a few days time is a nice idea.

When I lost Bob I got loads of bouquets and flower arrangements. And also a simple Peace Lily in a square glass container. The flowers etc were all dead in less than a fortnight but the Peace Lily is still going strong and looks as fresh as ever. For anyone looking for an idea for a similar bereavement gift I highly recommend one.

    Morning all from mehefinland
Bright and sunny now but a cold wind. Yesterday was horrendous - the girls were queueing to come back in to the stables after 2 hours out in the field. Don't think Rileycat even went out! All happier today.

You can tell spring is coming ( early) . The violets are out up the lane, mr pheasant is calling for his mate, and I heard a skylark this morning at 8 o clock.
Just ordered more coal for the Rayburn, postponed a hospital appointment , and about to go for bedding and horse food so that's my lot for the day ( not)

TA don't beat yourself up about it. If they are neighbours they will know and understand your circumstances. All the others seem to be saying the same thing.

All for now, Hugs and spoons to those in need

TA, well done on making that decision, there was no need to put yourself through that.

I'm enduring the most peculiar cold ever - sore throat for 2 days, fine for 1 day, cough for two days and now my nose has started streaming. Luckily Steve is showing no signs of it. I'm watching him like a hawk because it was this day in the last cycle that things started to go pear shaped.

We went to see Laura and Brian yesterday and I cooked a lovely roast dinner. Poor Laura is feeling really tired, yes she is pregnant again so we are all thrilled but keeping our fingers crossed. It's still early days but things seem a bit more positive this time, she's had 2 scans and the baby is growing well, another one in a couple of weeks and then we can all breathe a bit easier. She's not keeping it to herself thsi time because she's realised that if things go wrong you can't keep it to yourself.

    Morning folks.

It's bright and sunny in Glasgow, I just hope it continues. I want to into town to return an item to Marks before going to visit DM. She's now got an allergic reaction to the ABs prescribed for an UTI. This may the third day so should be finished today.

It's good to read everyone's news and am glad you're not going to the funeral TA.

    Happy Monday to all.

Afternoon all. Bright and sunny here and I have two loads of washing on the line. We went shopping for a few bits, had jacket potatoes with left over bolognese sauce and grated cheese. Now having a bit of a sit down before prepping dinner and making a crumble. I use tinned apple slices which are very economical with a home made crumble topping.

TA you made the right decision. Specky glad your boiler is fixed. Gers sending healing thoughts to Mumxx

Well hugs to all who need them. I shall be in need of some this time next week as DH will be having his operation. Have a good afternoon all.

    Afternoon all
Well after yesterday's dreadful weather, today we have had sunshine :j
We wanted to go to town this morning to juggle some money as we have a few big bills on the horizon. However first Mr Fix It needed to speak to s*y about the increased b/band price as we are not getting anywhere near the speeds that we were promised. Anyway the price has been reduced, but now we have another fault between the house and the exchange, so an engineer has been booked. We should have known something was up, as last week an engineer was in the street, up the pole and down the hole .
We called in Li*l on the way home so that I could buy some food for us, before Dad filled up my freezer with more pork joints :rotfl:.
This afternoon I have been looking in my DIY shed for some gloss paint. Didn't find that, but found lots of things that shouldn't be in there . The errant items are now either relocated to their proper places, ready for the tip or binned. I shall now have to get under the stairs and hope the paint is there, otherwise I shall have to buy a small tin as I need it to do the skirting in the bathroom, then hopefully I can make a start on Thursday or Friday.
Tea tonight will be the leftover chicken in a HM sweet and sour sauce with oven chips.

TA I think you have made the right decision. I'm sure your neighbour will understand and wouldn't want you upset all over again.
Speky good luck with the new relationship. I didn't mention it before as I didn't want to put the kybosh on it :rotfl:
Nelski sorry for mentioning the crumble :D. But it was nice comfort food for a dreadful day and I topped ours off with lashings of custard :j
Snoozer fingers crossed all goes well for your Laura.
Oh well I can't put off the "cupboard under the stairs" search any longer, so...... I'm going in, keep me covered :rotfl:.
Take care and hugs to all'
    nan xx

Good afternoon chums and crikey what a blowy day its been today I was awake at silly o'clock for some reason and just couldn't get back to sleep so I got up and stuck a wash on and it was blowing on the line before 8.00, just odds and ends that were stuck at the bottom of the basket that had been overlooked.

Then swished through the bathroom and tidied the kitchen and seemed to have got lots done by 9.00 then took myself off to Book club which was nice then back home for lunch. Now sitting down awaiting the boys coming in from school. Think it maybe an early night tonight :)
Tomorrow I am hosting the U3A coffee morning and wednesday its U3A monthly meeting,I shall have to look and see what speaker we have .
Thursday my gardener starts back after the winter break and Friday its History club and another week will have whistled by.

Four weeks today and we shall be back on our beloved IoW for our spring break so I am looking forward to that.

Gers well done on your Mum's recuperation, and good for you in prioritising her.I'm sure you will enjoy your retirement and if anything like me (I retired in 1995) you will never be bored I wouldn't have time to go to work now I am far too busy :)

Fingers crossed for you Speky ,hope all goes well for you with your new young lady :)

TA very wise to not put yourself through anything more stressful this year I'm sure folk will understand, and a peace lily sound lovely

Right time for our Henry to make his Granny one of her delicious cuppa's (best thing I ever taught him to do )

Take care chums apparently, Wednesday is going to be even stronger winds, but then it is March.
I saw some gorgeous magnolia's in blossom today but sadly the wind will blow most of it away, roll on summer

    Cheers Chums

Mum not so well today, she's developed a pulmonary embolism so is now having daily injections instead of her usual tablets. She's also got this post-op delirium so her analgesic has been changed.

All in all a troublesome day. Time for tea.
