This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
After a few days of doing not a lot I must do a bit of housework today. I need to dust and vacuum through and get the bedding in the washing machine.
If I feel up to it, I could do with going out for some fresh veg and salad bits, but I will see how cold it feels later before I decide whether to make do with what I’ve got left for today.
Lunch with my brother yesterday was really enjoyable and it was nice to have a quick catch up with my niece and her boyfriend before they went out.
Gers it's good to hear that your mum is continuing to improve.
Have a good a day everyone.0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread Hollyharvey.
Yesterday was a bit of a washout - it rained for most of the day, stopping occasionally for a bit of hail and some flurries of snow. I stayed in!
Great to hear that your DM is doing so well Gers and that dp1's granddaughter is better.
I haven't slept well for a few nights so might go back to bed later if I need to. Other than that, no interesting plans. I think I might get my hair chopped this week as it is waist length now and getting hard to manage. If I have about 1 foot cut off, it will still be long enough to put up. I hate going to tge hairdresser though, I don't experience it as pampering and also I have scalp psoriasis so always have to explain that it isn't catching.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS now getting ready for work as am I.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede (me), peas, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight will be steak, chips, peas and onion rings, peppercorn sauce for those that want some.
Yesterday was a lazy day, just got all pack ups etc sorted ready for today whilst lunch was cooking, just chilled in the afternoon. Back to work today and bills have gone out so expecting it to be manic.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Awful weather over the weekend, rain, sleet, snow and a brisk breeze. It looks a little calmer this morning but still cold.
Your DM is amazing Gers, hope she's back home soon.
Pleased to hear your DGD is recovering dp1.
I had a fantastic weekend with the DGC although the clearing up operation took quite a while! We managed a good walk along the river on Saturday to the next little town and got the train back - DGS was beside himself with a ride on the train and played with the tickets until he left. Swimming yesterday morning then a lovely Sunday roast with DD and BF too.
Back to the grind this morning with a washing mountain to do, it'll get done throughout the week. I'm hoping for a quieter week at work, didn't quite make getting up for swimming this morning but will aim for a long walk later.
Happy Monday, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. All sorts of weather was chucked at us yesterday = rain, sleet, hail, snow, wind and even a glimpse of sun. Today promises much the same.
I have got myself in a state worrying about the funeral of a neighbour I intended going to today. It's at the same church, with the same funeral directors, as Bob's funeral and I know it will bring back upsetting reminders of that day and I will end up mourning for Bob and not the neighbour. (I am reminded of the funeral of a friend's DH that another friend and I attended. She had just lost her dad and was consumed with grief through the service but for the wrong person.) I have all morning to make a decision. I know I would not be missed as there will be a lot there because he was a well known chap in town. I'd just feel guilty.
No other plans for today but, as usual, the jobs are still waiting. Take care all and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. REDRUBY enjoy your break it sounds lovely. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning
Still very blowy this morning mixed with the hail its slammed back into winter.
So much for a relaxing day yesterday the house didn't know what had hit it instead bar a break for James and Tim and the Dancing on Ice final. Its clean within an inch of its life now...I'm tempted to shrink wrap it then it stays like that
Really glad James won DOI he was my favourite all through
Today is going to be hacking through an enormous to do list of work stuff and some paperwork needed for home
Food wise its pasta bake tonight with some shepards mix from the freezer also have the rest of an apple crumble I "found" yesterday..I blame nanny for that she planted the thought
Hope everyone has a magic monday0 -
Oh TA please don't go that will be so hard for you. Its way to early to be putting yourself through that. Why not just send a card explaining why i am sure they will understand0

Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly
GERS hope your DM continues to improve and is home soon
dp1 pleased to hear dgd is recovering
TA I agree with Nelski, it's too soon to put yourself through that. Maybe in a day or two take or send some flowers to your neighbour saying they have been in your thoughts and explaining why.
Yesterday the weather was horrendous, wet and gale force winds not going anywhere.
Take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone,
Bbrr it’s a cold one today, the sun made a brief appearance yesterday whilst I was over the yard with Lu but otherwise a stay at home kind of day. It’s food shopping day today and the fridge is reassuringly empty so the meal plan went well
Good to read that your DM is recovering well Gers and great news on your resignation, you may recall I did much the same when my Mum was poorly and never regretted it for a minute, time is precious and you can never get it back.
Cut yourself some slack TA if you don’t feel up to the funeral don’t go, you can pay your respects in your own way.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all,
Blue skies, wet underfoot and windy here.
A busy and nice weekend was had. On Friday, I went home and my flat was like a bombsite with the guys working on the boiler. My landlord was there supervising and explained that they would be a couple of hours and I think they eventually left around 8ish. I had no heating so I just wrapped up, which is fine.
The gas men came round again on the Saturday morning whilst I went to yoga, the gym and the SM. Again came home to them all still working. They finished at around 6pm. I had left by then for Liverpool to meet a girl for a first date. I actually wasn't feeling particularly nervous for some reason and we enjoyed a nice night having a few drinks before I caught the last train home. I recon I'll see her again actually.
Sunday morning signalled a group video call with the family to see the little one in Korea, given the time difference us in the UK had to be on at 8.30am, so most of us looked dishevelled but it was nice to see everyone. My football game was cancelled due to a watterlogged pitch so I spend my morning doing all my meal prep and then went a 7 mile run, which is my new longest distance.
In work now and will go to the gym then yoga tonight.
Gers - Hope your DM is doing better today. What a fright you must have had.
TA - It won't be easy for you and so perhaps you could show your regards in another way? Send a card or flowers? I'm sure they'd understand.0
