Best place to sell my car?

Where would the best place be to sell my car. It's in good condition and has just passed it's MoT but I'm cutting back and it's an extravagence so it's got to go. A dealer won't give me much I know but should I stick an ad in the local paper, put it on an internet site? I've never sold a car before and don't know where to start. Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Thanks

I sold my car earlier this year by advertising it in work. We have an electronic bulletin board that everyone working for the council who has access to a PC & Intranet can access. I sold it within 2 days for just £100 under my asking price.
My OH sold his car on Ebay a couple of years ago. Very painless. He took a few photos and was extremely honest in his description taking photos of any marks. The buyer came down from London, paid cash and drove away happy without kicking a tyre!! I think it cost about £20 to sell.

sometimes ebay can take forever to sell a car on.between people not bidding enough and non paying dreamers.

Hi
My brother had loads of trouble with scamsters contacting him via autotrader and he got no sales even after advertising there twice, whilst using https://www.pistonheads.com classifieds section he got him loads of interest that was all genuine.0 -
We advertised my OH's car on autotrader and the phone never stopped ringing ... even after it had gone. Loads of interest and would recommend. Car was a Mazda and sold for £1,200 if that helps. Garage only offered us £800 part ex.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Thanks for the advice I'll look into all the options suggested. Now all I've got to do it grit my teeth and do it. I love my car and it'll be a real wrench to see it go but it's got to be done. Thanks.0
