PPI rejected EGG/Barclay’s

Options
Hi I received a rejection letter from Barclays regarding my PPI based on the fact I applied online so they did not give me any advice and I made my own decision if I required the policy and could have benefited from it.
It was such a long time ago so I can’t remember all the details but at the time I was about to leave my job and also undergo major surgery - my company we’re paying me full sick pay following the surgery so PPI would not have been of any use to me. I can only think I applied for the egg card (not ppi) at that time. I apparently only had the PPI for 2 months - I can’t remember having it let along cancelling it.
I’ve seen in a few forums that egg use to use pre-ticked boxes on their online application forms.
Before I send them a reply has anyone managed to reclaim their PPI even if applied online.
Is there anyway of finding out if the box was pre-ticked?

I know it’s only 2 months but the principle that I was charged for something that was of no use to me has annoyed me.
Also how do you request a SAR - do I literally just reply and say I would like request a SAR and all evidence they have used to come to there decision?

I’m also currently going through another PPI complaint with Royal Bank of Scotland for a Sainsbury’s card I had in the late 90’s. Apparently that was a mailed application and I had ticked the box - does that mean it will also be rejected?

Any advice appreciated, thank you.

Wherever you have chosen to buy PPI - which seems to be all instances - it's highly unlikely a mis sale will have occurred.

Just reread the letter they have also stated a difference policy start date on the rejection letter to the start date on my initial enquiry letter - which I would assume that would make the high commission compensation incorrect?

You appear to be wasting your time with PPI complaints.

    Sorry

Well, it is hard to claim you are missold if no-one actually sold it to you.

What makes you think it was no use? Most PPI covering debt pays out in addition to employer sick pay. Only a small number does not.

Yes, a small number did that but most didnt and those that did, only did it for a short period.

Providers that had pre-ticking would uphold the complaint.

It should be if that is the case. As long as there are no other failings.

Did you hold the card past 2008?
