GOV can't find car details
Hi,
I'm transferring ownership of my car online. I entered the reg and the log book number and I had an error that they could not find the details. The reg and VC5 numbers were definitely correct. I have owner the car since brand new, so no worries that it's dodgy.
The only think I can think of is that last year somebody hit my car when it was parked and wrote it off as a Cat D. Normally for a write of you need a new VC5 - I did not get one, the insurance company and reading I did says that you don't need a new VC5 for a Cat D.
So, not really sure what to do. DVLA website is down and for some inexplicable reason the vehicle transfer website is only open 7am to 7pm!?
Any advice on what may have happened would be appreciated. I transferred it to my brother and took his car, he wants to use my car as a part-ex for his new car ASAP.

Presumably you've been able to tax it each year?
Might just be the back end systems down for maintenance. If its not up this morning, ring DVLA.0 -
Do you really need to transfer ownership on DVLA first?
It will add another keeper and whenever I've traded in a vehicle, they've not been bothered whose name is on the V5.0
