Passport and brexit. Will I still be able to go on holiday?

Hello just looking for a bit advice and help. I haven’t been on holiday for years and my passport expired about 6 years ago. And I have a holiday booked for August. Is it too late to renew my passport?

What happens if I renew after 29th March? Will I still be able to go on holiday?

Thank you, any help would be appreciated

I don't know what happens if you renew after 29/03, does anyone know ? No it isn't too late to renew but why not just renew it now.

Yes you will still be able to go on holiday, what makes you ask if you wouldn't ?
  • Just because there was a “deadline” date which was on Friday, I don’t understand what they mean by deadline, what if I was to renew after that deadline?

There wasn't a deadline. The papers just like to scare people. There could be a chance your passport doesn't come in time the longer you leave it but they've always been pretty quick for me.

I don't think you can 'renew' a passport after 5 years - you may have to apply for a new one.

Look on the FCO site where there is a passport checker to say whether your passport will need renewing

Well, 29 March is scheduled to be the end of the world, so better to go on holiday before then. Or pray that parliament votes to extend the deadline.

    You’re wrong, it’s a renewal

No problem. You have loads of time to renew, even if you wait a few months. And other European countries will welcome you (and the money you spend) irrespective of whether we leave the EU with a "deal", without a deal or if Brexiting the EU is delayed.

I used to visit France and Spain before we joined the EC, as I think it was called then, sometimes by air, sometimes driving, sometimes hitch hiking, and it felt no different to my last 40 years of trips

    Yes there is that.

I'm not surprised there's been no panic buying of various foods yet.
