Help with Old wiring red & black

Hi,
I intend to replace a combi fan ( fan with lamp) in my kitchen with just led lamp.
The fan and lamp wasn't working so I decided to replace it as it wasn't needed either.
When I removed the fan the only cable that was connected was black neutral however all other lights in home was working fine.
After removing fan I see following wires coming out of ceiling
2x blacks - one with a black tape on it and another black cable that was already connected to neutral of fan.
3x earth cable bundle together in green yellow sleeve.
And just
1 red cable.
I do not know what this red wire is, I checked and found that tjis red wire is coming out of a cable which has 2 red and 1 earth wire???
However I tried following two configuration :
Configuration 1-
connected the black with tape to brown in lamp
Connected bundled 3 earth wires in green yellow sleeve to earth yellow in lamp
And another black without tape to blue neutral.
Left the red wire disconnected.
Now when I put the switch on the lamp does not switch on but when I switch on my living room lights it flicker with light in my living room.
So I tried configuration 2-
Connected red with brown in lamp
Connected bundled 3 earth wires in green yellow sleeve to earth yellow in lamp
And another black without tape to blue neutral
Now the lamp in kitchen works but the other lights in living room are very dim.
Can you please suggest How I should connect these wires to lamp connectors???
Your help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

If not, then removing the fan might be contrary to building regulations and could be flagged up as a defect in a survey when you come to sell the property.BigGreentree wrote: »When I removed the fan the only cable that was connected was black neutral however all other lights in home was working fine.

But none of what you describe sounds anything like a professional installation of an extraction fan with an overrun.BigGreentree wrote: »Can you please suggest How I should connect these wires to lamp connectors???"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
It is ceiling fan, and has two pull switches one for fan and one for lamp operates independently, and then it is connected with wall switch, the wall switch is actually master switch for fan and its lamp.
What amaze me is that when I removed the fan the only wire that was connected with it was bkack neutral wire... and all the lights in living room were working.... also all red wires are looped together... but thus ine cabke is unique with two red and one earth??? Leaving one red out and one bundled with loop.
Any clue?0 -
For god sake get an electrician in before you kill someone.0

Honestly, how many more times do you need telling?0 -

There's a clue, but the only possible answer is, as everyone else suggests, GET SOMEONE IN WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!
From the above, some other idiot has already had a very successful poke-round so it's time to stop!0
