Good morning chums and very sunny but windy morning it is as well Just stripped and change the bed and its all in the washing machine churning around (my late Mum would be horrified at washing on a Sunday
) but weekends when the weather is a nice drying day I am going to make the most of the breeze.
Just a spot of whizzing the hoover around ,menus done for the week and no shopping to buy as yet this week.
I found in my freezer when I was rummaging yesterday some tiny little loaves, I think my bread making friend gave them to me before Christmas and for some reason I froze them
I haven't eaten bread for around two years so I dug one out to use up as dipping bread in this lunchtimes celery soup. When I say tiny they are really like miniature ones about the size of a roll but loaf shaped looks like a mini cottagerather cute and I think it was an experiment that my friend was doing with some tiny loaf tins she had picked up at a church sale
Still they are nice looking ,if small and I will give one a go .I think there are about another 4/5 in the freezer ,hopefully they will be OK. I individually wrapped them in foil so I shall stick on in my remoska to reheatI will feel like the BFG eating one I think
Then off to DDs for dinner late afternoon and a pre-dinner scrabble game with her and the boys
Hope Gers DM continues to improve and is soon back home again. Today is my eldest DGD Katie's 26th birthday so I expect I shall see her at some point ,perhaps with my little DGGD Erin whose birthday is in a couple of weeks time
Hope everyone has a great day and manages to relax and enjoy some sunshine ,even if its a bit windy
Cheers chums

Morning everyone.
I slept until 8am'ish which is normally unheard of. Must have been a side effect of my medicine. Actually I didn't enjoy it much so won't be repeating it.
DM has been texting me already. I'll go in early afternoon today, she wants her iPad and crosswords so she must be doing well.
SO - worth waiting for!
dp- I also missed reading about a DGD crisis but so glad that all is well.
I've washed every towel in the house, my own clothes and even one of my jackets, all down to distracting myself. Now I've got to return to normal activities for a while.
Last night I emailed my line manager at college resigning from my management role with immediate effect. :j I'll continue with my (minimal) teaching responsibilities but the other bit takes up so much time, for instance there are two days of interviewing new tutors next week - can't do it all. DM comes first. I'm very relieved about making the move to resign, it's a big weight off my shoulders.
I hope that the weather isn't too horrible for everyone and wish you all a Happy Sunday.0 -
So pleased to hear about your Mum Gers, she certainly is made of stern stuff, may her improvement continue.
I felt exactly the same as you when I made the decision to retire. Mum was in hospital, extremely ill, and I knew I would have lots to do to empty the bungalow ready for selling. It was like a weight lifted off my shoulders immediately, and great to think on Sunday evening I didn't have to go to work Monday morning.
Enjoy your retirement and don't forget the birthday cake for when your Mum comes home.

I think we've had everything thrown at us here this morning - wind, rain, hail, sleet, snow and finally a bit of sun peeping throughWe got very wet dogwalking.Leisurely breakfast after. Not sure what we're up to today.I do need a few things so might go to AsDa and then call at our friends as we havent been for a couple of weeks and DH wants to watch the football later.
Last night's Greek meal was lovely, and we went to a pub after that used to be our local before we moved here. Our friends just live further along the road so they strolled home and DS1 picked us up.
I have taken some beef olives from the butchers out for tea for a change, they're usually very nice.My chest freezer has quite a bit of space in now so I might see what's on offer in tomorrow's pack.
Not much else to report so I'll wish you all a super Sunday
Cross posted with Gers-so glad to hear DM is doing well:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Afternoon all. Gers glad to hear that Mum is ok and wanting her crossword.
Not much going on here. It has been very windy but it"s abating now so a load of washinh has gone out. I do like drying it outdoors. There is a ragu in the slow cooker for spaghetti bolognese for tea as DS is unexpectedly here today. It's nice to see him and he took DH out for breakfast. A nice treat as DH's operation is a week tomorrow.
Well have a restful Sunday everyone."It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world"0 -

Just back from visiting DM. She's moved to a 'step down' ward which means she's improving. She's still suffering from post op short term delirium though she's aware of and annoyed by it. She's been up and standing this morning so it's a start.
I took the car this time because of the dreadful weather and it's easier to park on a Sunday. After visiting I collected the dry cleaning from W aitrose and dropped off an old duvet at the tip.
Candy - hope your migraine goes soon.
Candlelight - yes, I immediately felt less stressed even though, at this stage, there's no thought of a care home or selling DM's flat. The NHS policy here is to aim getting hip patients back to the same mobility as before. Happily nursing and personal care at home is free of charge.
Now I will be spending time taking care of myself for a wee while. Thanks for all the good wishes.0 -
Evening
Popping in whilst I’m visiting family in the North.

OL - hope you get used to the doors and had a good day with your dgc
Back south tomorrow and work on Tuesday.
Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care0
