This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning all

GERS hope your DM makes a speedy recovery

Yesterday turned out to be a busy one. Car MOT first thing, then to see mother. I think someone swapped her :D, she spoke to us and it made the visit so much nicer. Maybe missing visiting her last Wednesday when we had the chaps working in the garden made her think. Then we had lunch out and finally did some shopping, Lovely day but exhausting.

Special thought with all those finding life difficult.

  • Morning SILVER-OLDIE and all to follow. The howling wind of yesterday has moved on thankfully. Still damp and miserable though with sleet/snow forecast for later. Come back Spring.

Impromptu overnight stay by two youngest DGDs last night but they are only here until 10.00 when they are getting picked up for rehearsals for next w/e's Choreography comp. Then the day is mine to probably just lounge around doing nothing.

I hope GERS' DM continues to convalesce well and SO's DM keeps her sociable head on for future visits.

Not given a thought to meals for today but there is still some sliced beef in gravy lurking in the freezer so it may well be that for lunch with an assortment of veg.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely and also absent friends. Take care all xx

    Morning

Silver thats great news about mum maybe she will stop chopping her nose off to spite her face now :D

Gers Glad to hear all went well they will have her up and about really quick I bet :)

Really good kip again last night this is most unusual.

Did a load of house stuff yesterday including clearing out some sorry looking veg from the fridge. I'll have a whizz round the lounge today then I can chill out

Food was spicy black bean burger with a load of salad and random veg. Todays treat is moroccan chicken and chickpea with some rice.

Looking forward to Sunday Brunch today as my two favourite chefs Simon and James are on :j

Right I'm off for masterchef catch up ....if I cant cook myself at the moment I will get my fix on tv :D

    Morning everyone

I really enjoyed my day of reading, watching TV and dozing on the sofa yesterday and feel much better for it.

My brother is on his own today so is coming to collect me to spend the day with him, and we are going to go out for lunch which will be nice.

I could really get used to this not doing any household chores. A few things will need doing tomorrow, but I will worry about that in the morning.

Gers It’s good to hear that your mum’s op went well and that a good recovery is expected.

Silver-oldie I’m glad your visit to your mum went better yesterday.

Have a good a day everyone.

Morning! Woke up failryl early and fairly clear headed, yay, go me!
Made pork mince and fennel sugo last night, was really nice and have some for the freezer. I also bought a chicken to roast, this will be first one for about 7 or 8 years. Let's hope I haven't lost the ability to make as many meals as possible out of it.
Today I'm watching the last of the recent Escape to the Chateau, then i think I will be getting some compost and sowing the seeds for this month, tomatoes, chilies, sweet peas and some lettuce. I will be buying celery, I always do, I gave celeriac a whirl once from seed, so very fiddly..Need to find a spot for some lovage and somewhere for the 2 years potted rhubarb to live in...

Gers, good to hear it went well, and yes, you look after yourself too, otherwise you'll be no good yourself! SO, what a turn up for the books, how nice! Holly , enjoy your day out and dinner! Nelski, again, another turn up! Looks like a good Saturday was had, hope today is too! TA, I have nothing to add except have a nice day :) OL, you are fully entitled to want white dors, I'd have made him send them back personally...

    Morning everyone
Thank you for all your good wishes regarding little grand daughter.....she seems to be fine again now. Its such a worry when she is so small especially when we are so far from the hospital. DD has been told to ring for an ambulance as soon as she is worried about her......but on Friday it took one hour 40 minutes for the ambulance to come and then it's an hour to the hospital. Luckily the community nurse was in the area and she stayed with DD till the ambulance came.
Nice family day yesterday as it was my dad's 84th birthday.....he had all 5 great grandchildren there so it was lovely. Today I'm going down to my mam and dads for Sunday lunch as my brother stayed over with them last night. DD and little grand daughter are coming too.
Hope you all have a good Sunday

Its a lovely day here but very windy, I think TA has sent her wind down to us :D we had a lovely meal out last night I had scallops with crab bisque and a seafood pasta, it was very tasty, today is the third section of my birthday treats :T we are off to Kent until Friday to a cottage with hot tub and log burner :j my sister had also bought us a three course meal with champagne at an award winning tapas restaurant on Thursday I am so very lucky and feel blessed to have so many nice gifts.

Need to do a few things here this morning, finish packing and getting the bits together to take with us and emptying the bins etc the dw can go on just before we leave.

Gers I hope mum continues to do well.

    Morning lovelies !
It's wet and windy today and there was someones recycling box skidding down the road during the night, which woke me up from a lovely sleep :(.
Dad called in yesterday with 2 small joints of pork loin for my freezer, to add to the other 4 . Now that's at least 2 pigs in there. I have asked for chicken, beef or lamb but none of those have appeared. I think he's filling my freezer by stealth :rotfl:. He stayed to watch the match........ Wales won again :j. IMO it's about time they got their game together although Scotland gave them a run for their money.
Nothing much will be done today other than cooking lunch, which will be roast chicken, roasties, green beans etc. I shall also take the last apple and mincemeat crumble out of the freezer for tea

I have almost filled another charity bag with some books, PC games, CD's and a KS duvet set that is still hard even after washing :(, so that will have to be put out tonight for collection tomorrow.
SilverOldie what's the saying " absence makes the heart grow fonder " . I hope your DM continues to chat.
Gers hope your DM is on the road to recovery and that she improves swiftly.
RedRuby enjoy your continuing birthday celebrations. Seems you are being thoroughly spoilt and it's well deserved. _party_
dp1 I'm glad your little DGD is much better.
Holly enjoy your lunch with your DB.
Nelski even if you don't cook yourself, we know where to come for some cooking tips. :rotfl:
taff I'm loving the chateau, but I'm surprised by some of people having no idea what they are doing. The fashion designer family for one, still having guests with no doors on the bedroom

Right I'd better get the oven going and prep the veg.
    Take care all.
    nan xx
