Finding accounts

HI
I have just received Power of Attorney for a relative with dementia (finances and care). Although I can now act on her behalf I have no idea about her financial affairs or what banks/building societies she may be involved in. This is partly due to the fact that she was a very private person who has never talked money and partly due to the fact that she has never retained any (what she considered)unnecessary paperwork including bank statements etc.
Has anyone come across this and know a way of finding out? I have come across something for lost bank accounts when people have died but nothing in this circumstance
Any help most welcome
Thanks
Marrobin

If the lady in question has now gone into care (former home sold?), have you ensured that post is redirected?
It seems likely that she is of pension age - the DWP should be able to tell you where her SP ( and possibly AA) goes.
Do you know the company for which she (possibly spouse) used to work?
You could check with any pension scheme administrator there may be.0 -
Did the lady live within a bus ride / walking / car journey of a high street, it might be she walked in to various banks / BS and opened accounts over the counter.
It might be worth taking your paperwork into these banks etc and asking, they may not answer there and then but you may have started the ball rolling.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100/100miles
