Hit by car whilst cycling

Update
Police have reinterviewed the driver and he as expected has admitted 100% liability.
As a reward the police are going to send him on a driver awareness course for a few hours.....
I can't believe he is not being charged with undue care and attention, no points or fine just a few hours in the classroom.
Police obviously happy to save their time and budget. Cyclists die every year in the New Forest where I was driven straight into and I was lucky to escape with 2 mangled hands and bruises over 90% of my body.
The driver must be celebrating tonight!0 -

I think you are fortunate police got a result.
The driver was foolish to admit liability.
Without evidence, e.g. credible witness statements it would have been impossible to prove."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

There was a witness guys....
Easy to admit liability if that means next to no punishment.0 -
Have you sought advice from a solicitor yet?
You need to be making a claim off his insurance - no brainer if he's admitted liability to the police.
Make sure you use a lawyer specialising in personal injury etc claims.0 -
Shoot someone or knife someone go to jail. Mow them down with 2 tonnes of metal - don't worry we'll just call that an accident.0

I contacted a local specialist in personal injury. I submitted all details then heard nothing for 10 days. I presume they are not interested although that would probably change very quickly if they knew 100% liability was admitted by the driver.
I will contact a national specialist this week. As the solicitor will charge circa 20% of the compensation I'm thinking of splitting my claim in two. First I will claim for damage to bike and equipment. I can do this and immediately.
Then I will claim for injuries and personal impact through professional legal help.
I don't see the need to give away 20% of the equipment settlement. Does that plan seem realistic?0 -
The CTC are now Cycling UK. The solicitors for their members since 2002 are Slater and Gordon, who of course have great experience in cycling incidents:

Good luck!0 -

Thanks.
I have been researching slater Gordon all week and was just on their site when your post popped up!
I'm slightly confused on payment. No win no fee is pointless for me as driver is on record with the police admitting 100% fault.
Will his car insurance pay my legal fees or is that solely down to me?0 -
When I was involved in a collision with a car while cycling (driver at fault) their insurer paid all those fees, but that was as a member of Cycling UK. Seek advice!0
