Old Style Daily Saturday 9th March 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I had a good day yesterday with a lovely lunch. Came back for a couple of hours in the afternoon then went out in the evening to a local hotel for a drink. I even had a glass of wine, the first time I’ve had alcohol for over a year, so I certainly know I have had a drink :).

Today I’m planning on dozing on the sofa, all of the activity yesterday has taken it out of me and I don’t want to overdo it like I did earlier in the week.

So no housework, cooking or cleaning planned for today, just relaxation.

AOD that cystitis treatment sounds pretty awful, it’s good that you are feeling a bit better though.

Camelot hopefully you got your calmer day yesterday after being so busy Thursday.

Lainey I hope that you had a good catch up with your friends and enjoyed your meal. It’s so nice to get together like that when you haven’t seen each other for a while.

Hopefully you went home to a nice warm flat after work yesterday specky.

Candygirl I hope the women’s conference went well and you had a good time.

Dp1 that must have been such a scare with your granddaughter, at least she is back home now. I don’t think I could cope with coming home and finding rabbits on the floor. One of the reasons I have never had a cat.

The parade sounds good nannywindow. Buying sweets while you were out is one of those things that just had to be done :D.

GBD2222 sorry that you are going to need an operation.

Gers hopefully you have managed to get some sleep. Happy birthday to your mum, I hope all goes well today.

Have a good a day everyone.

    Good morning everyone :hello:
I'm wide awake again as the cat has decided that 3am is a perfectly reasonable time for breakfast and woke me up. He was quickly disabused of that notion and chucked outside but I am up now so I thought I would see how everyone is.

Lee texted me last night to say they had been upgraded to the penthouse apartment so he was so happy. I think he is going to have a great time :D. Phoebe is getting ready for work and Lilly and Steve are still fast asleep. I will be writing out the week's mealplan for Lee and myself to start on Monday. I have shopping coming late morning and I can already hear the complaining about where it is all going to fit. I have bought lots of fresh food as I am trying Slimming World with Lee for the next 3 months.

Dinner tonight will be a full English as that is one of my favourites. I have veggie sausages to try this time for a change. I can't forgo the bacon though I just bought medallions for myself. Tomorrow it is Phoebe's 19th birthday and she wants pizza. I will make burgers for Steve and myself as we are not so keen on pizza.

Holly, I hope you manage a nice restful day and recharge your batteries xx
GBD2222, sorry your procedure didn't go to plan, hope the op is a success for you xx
Dp1, hope your grand daughter makes a swift recovery. It must have been very scary for all of you xx
Gers, hope your mums operation goes well and wish her a happy birthday xx

Right, I'm off to make a cuppa, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good morning, I have slept well and feel like a human instead if a snarling wombat.

I wasn't here last night so have just caught up with people's news. Gers, my best wishes for a speedy recovery for your DM. dp1, hope little one is better very soon, it is a really scary time when they are so tiny - my DS was very early and minute too. GBD sorry to hear your news.

I have towels in the washing machine and I'll do some jobs today, yesterday's Friday Tidy was only effective for a short while, I seem to be fighting a losing battle here.

I would like to get the washing outside but it looks like rain AGAIN, one of my neighbours helpfully told me that the rain will last all month. This was gratuitous unkindness, I didn't ask her for a weather prediction but she caught me going for a little walk in the rain.

I hope everyone has the best day they can.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I hope everyone has a better start to the day than we have. I could hear the wind howling all night and then the rain started as well. It looks horrible out there and, unless there is a vast improvement, I think I might be changing my plan of getting the bus into town and stay home and tackle my skunk look instead. My grey roots seem to appear overnight.

GBD that wasn't a very good outcome. I am sorry you now face an operation. DPD I hope there is some improvement in DGD. GERS not a very Happy Birthday for your DM and I hope her op is a success. Health problems are haunting this thread these days.

Just noticed the sun is peeping over the hills so it might be a better day than forecast after all.

I am looking at a very sad looking banana in the bowl left from last week's shop so I either chuck it before it taints my new supply or make a banana pancake for breakfast. Waste not want not I suppose so I think I will make a pancake. Decisions decisions!!

Have a good day folks if you can. Thinking of all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely as always. Take care xx

    Good morning.

Huge thanks for all your thoughts for my DM and PMs about her. When I saw her last night she was pain free, in fact she was what us Weegies call 'fleeing'. She's already sent me a text asking me to bring in her Times crosswords before her op!

I confess to being washed out yesterday, emotionally and physically. One the way back from the hospital I picked up a Chinese takeaway, ate it and went to bed. My sleep was long and deep. Now my worry is about the anaesthetic.

Sorry, I haven't caught up with the thread from yesterday so I'll indulge myself shortly. I hope that everyone is doing well. Happy Saturday.

    Morning All

Still raining, the TD will earn its keep today.

Good to see you back with us TA, I've missed you.
Sorry you have to have an op GBD.
Glad you managed some sleep Gers, Happy Birthday to your DM (although that doesn't sound quite right but you know what I mean), hope her op goes well. Glad you managed some sleep.

Work was busy again yesterday, I was on my own again, the upside is that the day flew in although I did have to stay later to see the stragglers out.

I re-sealed the shower last night, not as neat as I would like but it's done and doesn't look too bad. I'll leave it to dry until tomorrow morning so it's back to the bath again this morning.

DS1 and the DGC are coming today for the weekend, can't wait to see them although I'm not looking forward to the mess! DD and BF are coming for lunch tomorrow too. Must go shopping or they will be on crackers and jam!

Hope you all have as good a weekend as possible, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light, clear sky with sun shining this morning, forecast for the day isn't too bad. I'll put the washing out on the line shortly.

DH and myself up, showered and dressed, I've just finished my porridge. DS1 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, beans and cheese for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and veg. Tonight we have steak, chips, peas and onion rings, peppercorn sauce for those that want some.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, food shopping got done, continued with the washing, drying and ironing. Did some more admin jobs on the pc. Organised birthday cards and prezzies as have 2 birthdays this week. I stripped our bed and bed linen washed but not dried due to it starting to rain just after I'd put it on the line.

This morning I'll go to town and visit the building society and pick up a newspaper. We'll visit the parents later.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone,

Oh your poor Mum Gers and what a shock to you, hope all goes well for today x

The meal out with friends last night was really nice, we didn’t stop nattering all night and it was smashing to catch up on everyone’s news, we all met years ago when we had our horses at the same yard and have stayed friends ever since.

Am off to watch my DN play football this afternoon, the weather isn’t too bad, sunny just quite windy so hopefully won’t be shivering in the stands!

Have a good day folks x

We went to the quiz last night - came third which is the lowest we've come for a long time. But I was the only person there who knew the political party of the first woman elected to parliament (Sinn Fein). She didn't take her seat though so the first woman to sit in parliament was Nancy Astor.

I had an anxiety dream last night - they seem mundane to other people but they are real to me. I was trying to get Steve to pack to go away and he wouldn't leave his TV programme. I hate being late for things.

I've not got a lot of plans today probably just the cuting out for my new sewing project.
