    Not sure how it works in Scotland but in England you should be able to get it seen somewhere in a reasonable time.

    Plus's + minus's for private centres. Most of the consultants also work in the NHS anyway so could be getting the same surgeon.

    Incidentally I know some NHS hospitals in England are looking at doing both eyes on same day so not just private bods - not sure I think thats a great idea though!

    Around here waits vary from 6 weeks to 2 years.

    Could you ask to be referred to a hospital with a shorter waiting list?
    Are you prepared to travel?

    ETA just noticed the date, hopefully it will be all sorted by now.
