Had a quote from a local window company. We "may " have to have lintels.
They have quoted approx £300 each for the sizes below
1080x1280
880x1000
Does this sound OK?

Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

Lintels don't cost anything much at all. It's the labour. What are they doing for that? Repairing all the plastering etc?
I think it's probably high even if they are.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Have you only had the one quote? You need to get at least two more, and do not mention the lintels to them, if the next two do not mention them then you do not need them.
To me, without seeing your current windows, it sounds like they are trying to up the quote. If all the windows are the same size and the house is not in poor condition why would you need new lintels? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
If you windows that were originally supported by strong wooden windows and replace them with UPVC you will need lintels.
A neighbour of mine has a sinking bay window because the original windows were replaced with UPVC without lintels.
Installing lintels will probably take as much time as the window casements0 -

Poor advice.
There's been more than one thread on these boards where window companies haven't put new lintels in when needed, and the results aren't good.
Just because something isn't mentioned, it doesn't mean it isn't needed. It could quite easily be incompetence. People need to discuss everything with their building trades. If you don't trust them at all, then don't have any conversation with them at all.
How you then try to get work done is up to you.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
