Virgin picture quality vs Sky?

Thinking of leaving sky for virgin as can't seem to get a good deal from sky this year. My only concern is when I've been at peoples houses who have virgin the picture quality never looks as good as sky's. HD seems less sharp and more like Sky SD. Obviously that could just be down to their TVs or setup but does seem a pattern I've noticed.
Those who've switched sky to virgin (or virgin to sky) did you notice a difference in picture quality?

A thread inviting argument or personal opinion on picture quality.
Both providers do everything in their power to provide optimum picture quality. It goes without saying that people with expensive superior TV sets will obviously have better picture quality than those with supermarket cheapies regardless of which company provide the TV service. There is also the differences in quality provided by different channels to factor in to the equation.
Conclusion is that there is no quantifiable difference between Virgin and Sky. Of far more importance, I would think, are the differences in channel availability across the two suppliers. Sky still has more HD channels than Virgin and Sky still maintains Sky Atlantic Channel as an exclusive.0 -
I use Virgin at work for testing purposes(never had it at home) and Sky for personal use and the only thing I would add to @Moneyineptitude 's post is to check that your TV is optimally setup. The out of the box settings are rarely at their best possible levels and it is important to adjust it to your preferences. I have a lower end Sony (a KL50W model) and the difference between the factory settings and the settings I pulled off an online blog are marked and very noticeable. You can fine tune it from there if necessary since each panel is possibly unique.0

I have both or did till I disconnected the Sky Q box this week.
I'm using a LG 49" 4K TV.
I see a difference, to me Sky Q is clearer and the colours brighter especially on the HD channels. Almost the same quality as the Live TV (Freeview)
The TIVO box has been in for almost 12 months but barely used because I don't rate the picture quality. It's not bad but I'd choose Sky Q over Virgin TIVO.
I also find that on Sky Q I have to have the sound up full whereas on Virgin Media really low!0 -
Don't leave Sky until you have watched the last season of Game of Thrones, starting in April apparently.
I am resigned to waiting to get hold of it on Disc, but doubt that it will be possible to not know too many plot twists before then!0 -
For the purposes of on-demand, Virgin may do more streaming and this can affect picture quality if the internet is busy or congested or whatever.
Sky on the other hand does a download to the box and plays it from there; this maximises the quality but on slower internet it takes a while to get to a point where you can play it all the way through without stopping.0 -

It'll be on from 14/04/19 to 19/05/19 as there's only 6 episodes in the final ever season, schedule your cancellations after that point.0 -
I have considered joining Sky, just to watch GOT as it goes out. However, I can't really be that desperate!0

It'll be on NowTV so a couple of months entertainment pas will see you right. I've just delayed my cancellation by 3 weeks so I get all of it.0 -
