ESA NI Contributions requirements clarifications

I don't think that's correct.lukeylukeluke3 wrote: »with the ESA rules taking into account 'turnover' as income rather than 'profit' as income
Are you getting Ni credits because of limited Capability for Work?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I am not sure. All I can remember was that I could still get free prescriptions and free dentist. They might have been giving me NI credits but its moot as I just closed the whole thing down as I wasn't getting any actual money yet still making me jump through hoops like attending further assessments.
This is me making another attempt.
Yes, I even tried showing them my business expenses but they weren't interested in them at all, just the income. It seems it might be different with new style ESA with UC though0 -

As far as I understand HB is always means tested (like income based ESA) so I wasn't going to bother applying for that, just the contribution-based ESA.
That's what I was advised anyway.0 -

You can’t claim HB. Help with rent now comes through UC.
The reason I asked about NI credits on basis of LCW was because these would have met the second of the NI contribution conditions for new style ESA.
I think you’re going round in circles slightly. You have said your not ‘self employment’ is subletting your room but you wan5 to stop doing this in which case it will not be an issue going forward anyway. Moreover income from tenants is ignored for Universal Credit. I think your best bet is to apply for UC. You can go through Work Capability Assessment again and may get extra money as a result.

LCW ?
I wonder what I can do to get out of this situation where I am unable to receive anything?
What changes I need to make, what payments I need to make, what I need to apply for.
It's not like I'm going to magically get fit for work any time soon and things set up as they are are neither sustainable, nor good for my mental health anyway.0 -
LCW = Limited Capability for Work. Apologies for using an abbreviation.lukeylukeluke3 wrote: »I wonder what I can do to get out of this situation where I am unable to receive anything?
As per my previous post I suggest you look at Universal Credit. Get a Fit Note from your GP to support your claim.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
OK, I will feed this back to my advisor at Mind.
Thank you for taking the time to help.0
