No MPRN, not in database, no gas supplier will take us

Hi,
Did you ever get this sorted?0 -
Sort of is the only real answer!
I eventually got through to someone at EDF who understood the problem, they put me through to their new connections team who initially gave me the same response as before - I eventually lost it and demanded a senior. They finally understood.
So I've got a letter about two months ago saying we're making an MPRN and an engineer will come to physically check everything, happy days. Now two months later in EDFs ebilling the meter is there but no bill 'meter not found' which makes no sense. Been trying to get them on the phone to figure out what's going on now but not joy still.
So I'm halfway there after many months of battling. Who knew it was so difficult to give a company money?0 -
I know this is probably the daftest question ever, khaaaaan, but are you absolutely sure you have a gas supply? Is it remotely possible your place is all electric?
I am just surprised no-one asked this at the beginning of your thread. I do hope you update us as this information could be really useful to others who find themselves in the same situation. I would never have thought it is suppliers who register MPRNs, for instance; I would have assumed it was carriers/shippers/whatever they're called.
Thanks for the update and good luck to you.0 -

Personally if I were the OP I wouldn't have chased so hard & just enjoyed the free energy:)0 -
Is it definitely a live, connected gas meter? I am sure it is but it really should not be so difficult to pay for one's energy usage, should it? What a shambles the industry is in this country (and others, I'll warrant)
No-one should have to work this hard to be a customer: It's pathetic and, were I the OP, I would be looking for compensation for all the time and effort he/she has already put in; free gas aside, of course.0 -
Hi. I’ve posted about a similar problem earlier today (can’t attach links but it’s in the Energy forum).
If you have any success could you let me know how and I’ll do the same. Hopefully one of us work something out. I think in my case it’s he electric rather than the gas, but having the same issues.0 -
100% live supply - we even had the annual gas inspection two weeks ago. The meter numbers turn, the hob is gas, etc. No harm done, I questioned my own sanity at first!
I'll definitely update once I get a response from EDF. To answer those saying I've put way more effort than they would have: in my student years we had a massive issue in a shared house where we thought the bills were inc with rent, LL claimed we had lost our minds (young and too stupid to thoroughly read a contract) and we ended up landed with an enormous electricity bill. So now I'm extra careful with the energy firms and want to make sure everything is correct.
For those in the same situation, I have been taking monthly pictures of the gas meter, noting the readings, and putting away ~£30pm into an account (our usual avg gas bill) for just in case purposes. I haven't written by recorded post just yet but have screen capped live chat sessions, kept emails obviously, etc.0 -
It sounds to me as if you are doing all the due diligence you can, not that you should have to do any but, fwiw, I would do exactly those things too. Sooner or later the relevant body will wake up and smell the, erm, gas and they will not have a leg to stand on if they try to bill for more than 12 months, I very much hope.
Good for you, khaaaaan.0 -
So... What happened?0
