Please don't supply too many details of your system, as someone might be able to help you.

Looked on the manufactures web site?
So, do you have enough disk space?
    Are the pages complex?
Checked the task manager to find out what the pc is doing?
Have you run a disk checker on your PC.
Have you not only deleted the printer, but removed the software (in xp under the file, server properties, driver. tab) Then re-install printer drivers.
    checked event viewer.
Does the problem happen on every document?
Are you using non standard fonts?
Is the printer old and slow?
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

    bookduck,
I honestly don't think you need to take that attitude:cool: I would have been more than willing to provide any details HAD I KNOWN these were important in diagnosing what the problem could be. Not everyone is as savvy as you, I am a pensioner trying to get my head around todays technology, and at times run into difficulties.

For anyone else that could maybe help me.
The OS is XP Pro and I have all the updates.
The printer is a HP 6122 and not very old. I HAVE been to the HP site and checked all the drivers etc.
The fonts aare normal, and yes it happens whatever I try to print.
I hAVE deleted and reinstalled the printer.same problem.
The only thing that MAYBE is causing a problem, is that I installed a scanner, could this cause problems?

  • my money is on the USB drivers (presuming its connected via USB), however i would have to ask 2 questions 1st.

1)is it connected with a USB cable or is it connected some other way?
2)has it always done this (IE from when u 1st installed the printer) or has it only just happened recently

    Thanks for the reply blackpool.......
Yes it is connected via an usb cable, and it has only started freezing since I installed the scanner, could this have anything to do with it?
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it still does the same

Apologies if I was a bit harsh.

you only have 1 printer installed?

Does it look ok in control panel, system, hardware, Device manager? Click on the crosses just to be sure that all is working.

assuming you have the s/w to install it again, uninstall the usb scanner driver, remove the usb scanner connection, reboot and print - is it better, and if so look for a new scanner driver.

Still not working? Well you can try this as i may work... did you install the scanner first then the printer - if so remove both drivers and now install the printer driver first then then scanner or vice versa.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)
