Avro Energy Beware
Please be careful before using this energy supplier, they get good reviews but it could only be regarding the initial switch. Read reviews from customers who have been there for longer than a month and only then will you see how poor this company is.
This is probably an unusual post but I have switched electricity and gas suppliers yearly on average as far back as I can remember.
I last switched to Avro Energy and for 12 months was undercharged, following this I decided to stay with Avro who using my own readings put my payments up from £80 per month to £150 per month in order to repay approx £400 of debt. I had no issue with this.
Within 4 months I had paid back all the debt and was coming out of winter so contacted Avro to request lower payments, they put my payments down to £120 pm which I said wasn’t enough. Avro disagreed and after 2 months I phoned them again as I was now £150 in credit so they put my payment down to £105pm which again was not enough. Left this for 3 months (September 2018) and found I was £300 in credit and still increasing. I asked for a full refund quoting section 75 (can’t remember if it was specifically that I quoted but got correct info from mse website). Avro refused to refund it all and gave me £100 back. I switched away in early January was told no more direct debits would be taken and of course they took it anyway?! I asked for it back and they informed me as I was switching away it could not be refunded until account is settled. They sent me an email on Friday 22nd February stating that I would receive my refund of £300 10 working days from the end of the week this email was received . Won’t get this tomorrow as they sent email on a Friday which in Avro world is past the end of the working week. The company is poor, I think they have got rid of phone contact now.
This essay is really watered down, I just could not get Avro to look into my usage properly no matter how much I tried, I can only say it must have been deliberate. This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with, I tried to reason for such a long period they could have made an effort on so many occasions but i was met with refusal at every turn. I tried email, phone, and twitter.

One of the drawbacks of using one of the small energy companies is that they don't have deep pockets and winter must be a headache for them.
On the plus side is their lower charges and I for one have benefited by a good few hundred pounds over the last two years and expect that the same applies to you and I don't mind that Avro have £300 of my money going into winter and even after winter I have a £100 credit.
In your case at least they gave you time to pay back the £400 you owed and now the boot is on the other foot.0 -
I think you misunderstood that my credit never stopped growing even after lowering my monthly payment twice and no matter how many times I contacted them they would not lower payments sufficiently. So even after winter was passing I was going into summer in credit.
The debt was repaid in 3 months and it is their fault I was able to go into so much debt as much as it was mine. As the debt was repaid in 3 months it was either incompetence or dishonesty that led to me going into a high amount of credit.
Do you work for Avro, read their reviews in more detail and you will see that the overall reviews are not a true reflection.
I would prefer to pay a little extra for good service, I am still unsure if they will refund my money.0
