Suppleementary Card KYC

My partner has had a supplementary Barclaycard on my account for years but recently we had to cancel her cards. A new Amex card arrived within days but Barclaycard send a Know Your Customer demand before it would issue a new one. We sent off copies of her passport and driving license as requested but they have rejected her on the basis we have different addresses. When I spoke to them on the phone they claimed it is a recent legal requirement that we have the same address. Has anyone come across this and is it true? Anyway round it ?

Not if that is how they are applying the rules.

    It varies across lenders.

It's not a legal requirement, but they are entitled to make it their own rule if they want. You'll have to find a different card provider with different rules.
