Hi,
I had an Egg Loan and Credit card waaaaay back in the early noughties. I have confirmed Canada Square Operations my account numbers and that i had PPI on both those accounts so i am now going through their claim forms. However, i cannot for the life of remember the exact dates i took out the card/loan or how i took them out (i think over the phone, but again not sure). Obviously I don't want to misrepresent SO before i send them a tenner (:()If i put in a SAR will i be able to find out details like,
Is it worth doing that or should i just put 'unsure'? I'm worried putting unsure will jeopardise my claim, but because i can't remember the dates i took out the products i can't even answer the questions about my employment which is half the form it feels like!...any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Could just call them and ask for dates etc - or submit a DSAR these are now free but will obviously take a little while to receive.0

Although SARs cost nothing, in your case the results are very unlikely to provide anything of use to you.
Just fill in the forms as honestly as you can and don't be afraid to put "don't know".
What you must be clear on, though, is what your actual complaint is...0 -
Egg were either online or via post, so you can only have one those.
If you applied online, unless you were within certain dates the box was not pre ticked and you would have selected it.
A SAR will tell you how you applied for it [ eg I applied for my card online so I got some computer generated gubbins which showed when it was] but be prepared with a good complaint.
SIngle premium is still good for loans and if you did have good sick pay, savings or cover eleswhere you may well get lucky with an uphold for your card [ if it was not pre-ticked]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Thanks everyone for the advice! I could've sworn i got my loan over the phone, but i guess not !
@-taff Regarding the period when there was a pre-ticked box for online, are the dates for that period public knowledge?0 -
Whilst it is public knowledge that this was a known issue with egg, note sure there is a comprehensive breakdown of dates on the public domain - obviously egg will know as do the FOS, as such any sale that falls in to those dates is consider and auto-uphold.0

Also just to point out that you could in fact apply for Egg loans via the telephone.0

Oops, forgot phone too!
No, those dates are not public knowledge.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Whilst not public knowledge I believe the dates were with regards to loans taken online pre November 2002... ish0
