All of these court cases are coming up, probably after a new COP and appeal system are put in place, along with proper regulation. How is this likely to affect them? Is it likely that many PPCs will discontinue?

The new COP / appeals system will only apply to charges issued after the date they come into force.
We can expect the PPCs to continue to dredge up old unpaid charges from their back catalogue for some while yet.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

What would happen if the maximum amount that the PPC can charge is reduced from £100.00? Would that impact on the PPC's ability to use the Beavis case in ongoing cases?
If there is parity between Council run car parks and PPC's then there could be quite a reduction in some area's.

If the maximum charge is set at the same rate as it is for off-street Council car parks, that means £50 everywhere apart from London Boroughs, where it is £80. Both of these should also be subject to a 50% discount for prompt payment, as per Council tickets.
Certain consumer groups are lobbying the relevant Government departments to incorporate this within the new COP, along with a raft of other measures.
There is no valid reason why PPCs should charge more, many Councils manage to generate a healthy surplus from parking penalties.
If adopted, this will be a game-changer for the private parking industry. Simon Renshaw-Smith may have to make do with brass fittings instead of gold ones for his next yacht.

Yes, I am aware of that, I was thinking outside of the box as usual.
I am sure that some judges will as well. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Hi,
New member just joined so apologies in advance if this topic has been already discussed on another thread.
I have recently received a VCS county court claim form and I wanted to know if there is a specific defence for parking slightly outside the marked bay as I have read through a lot of posts but couldn’t see any defences for this type of claim?
I need to submit the defence asap so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
